Chance me for Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and a few other universities

Thank you guys  decisions are out in a few weeks and I just wanted to know some honest opinions! I’ve gotten into Georgetown SFS, UChicago, and received likely letters from Upenn and columbia!

I’m still waiting for decisions from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, BU, and Tufts! I’m an IR/ East Asian studies major so I think Penn’s huntsman program will be hard to beat for me!

Unweighted GPA: 4.13/4.3 ( don’t ask me why we do it out of 4.3…)

** my school doesn’t have a large offering of clubs and as part of the requirements for student advisory council! I am not allowed to seek any positions in student government or NHS, or any other major club.

Recommendations:
1 from principal, one from guidance counselor, one from my APUSH/APWH teacher, and one from my sophomore spanish teacher. All but my principal’s were sent to my colleges. I think they all wrote very nice letters since I’ve had to read them for scholarship apps! I’d give them all 8-10

Essay:

I wrote my common app essay on languages. It’s hard to describe exactly what it was, but it’s about my view on life and my beliefs and realizations? I can share it with anyone who wishes to see it! Just let me know and I can post it here! I think it’s close to a 9-10 considering the colleges I got into with it! I didn’t have anyone edit content so it’s 100% my words with no otiside influence.

Hooks (?)
URM from a small rural town in MA. My area has no opportunities for volunteering regularly. I also don’t have a chance to intern or work beyond my 2 hours of tutoring a week. I don’t know if being Puerto Rican and having a fascination of korea is a hook, but it has helped me thus far. Income is 65k for a family of 6.

Leave me a link and I’ll chance you back  thank you guys~!

I think you have a great shot, especially coming from a small town and making use of your opportunities. It’s hard to say for Harvard but everyone that applies has a shot! BU should be fairly straightforward ( maybe 80-90% shot)
I’m in the same boat as you (waiting for decisions and I am super worried XD. I’m male btw) chance please!

Impressive academic stats!
I dont think Huntsman is on the cards, HYP are obviously reaches, but you should get BU and Tufts. Best of luck!

@pedestrian1123 even people with low GPA’s but amazing EC’s?

@ItsHydro‌ well this person says that he or she is rank 2/163. Also for gpa - if you take a more rigorous schedule in high school (10+ APs) I would say that on a 4.0scale if one can maintain at least a 3.7, he/she is competitive (assuming that the SAT scores are decent)

I would think that someone already accepted to Huntsman would realize how neurotic these chance posts are. The fact that SFS, UChicago, Huntsman, and Columbia have taken you means that you are a solid candidate for every school in the nation. Asking people to chance you after all of these acceptances seems like a shallow attempt to validate your achievements.

@Oberyn‌ o.o my achievements are not even that good… I mean for my area yes, but I know hundreds of kids from different cities who have interned at so many places, gone on so many summer pgorsms, worked at so many amazing places, and have done some very impressive research. The most impressive thing on my resume is NSLI-Y… If you think these are so neurotic why sre you even on them? I wanted a genuine 3rd party analysis on my chances, especially for Harvard since technically I’m in state and MA is very competitive for harvard… I still don’t understand why I got into huntsman or columbia ( columbia since I submitted my supplement 1 1/2 months late) and I wanted to know if perhaps I had a shot at harvard or princeton, which are my two top schools… I do not know anyone who goes to them so I wanted to know what they were looking for in an applicant since I have lower sat/act scores while GPA is high… Each school looks at applicants differently, so I wanted to know, from someone who possibly goes there, if there was a good chance since I really want to go to those schools…

@pedestrian123 my GPA on a 4.0 scale is a 3.98 because I had 2 A-.

@ShaunakK98‌ I already got huntsman which was why I was posting to see about my chances at other schools. I applied for korean language, which is the smallest huntsman minority, which was why I was competitive, but going to other Ivies, I’m East Asian studies which is pretty competitive.

WOW :o HUNTSMAN. THATS AMAZING!! CONGRATS!!!

Thanks! I honestly don’t know how I did it o.o my love of korea is the only thing I got going for me, so I guess that helped with the language portion but still… I have no idea how o.o

Even I`m hoping for Huntsman…let see!!

I’m on here because I’m bored/waiting for decisions. You already have a shot at every school in the nation, and trying to be chanced by highschoolers who don’t know any better is pointless.

Wow! You look great! I think you could get into each school! I think you’re like 95% guaranteed, but if you had a 4.3 then I would say 100% you could get into any of those schools. Really impressive, good luck!

Chance me for UW-Madison please!

Thanks @healthandmusic‌ my school does GPA very differently. it is out a 4.3 where an A+ is a 4.3 and an A is a 4.0. I’ve only gotten 2 A- in my high school career ( one being a minor class that most colleges would not use to recalculate my GPA) Really I have a 3.98/4.0 but it is reported as 4.13 which annoys me to no end. I can only hope that a college looks at my transcript and sees no Bs and wonders why it is calculated that way… or recalculate it. Apparently the 4.3 system is supposed to give more weight to AP and help but I really don’t understand it. It just brings down everyone’s GPA in AP classes because it is impossible to get A+s in some of them.

and @Oberyn i totally understand! I have only ever posted one other chance me for gtown in the gtown thread and it was answered by a college student ( after decisions were released so not very good at calming my nerves). I thought mostly college students would respond. thanks for saying i am a compettive applicant because I really am going into this process blind. my mother didn’t go to college until her late 20s and that was one of those online programs, so i really have had 0 guidance in this process… I was about to just go to Seoul instead of attending college here, because if I couldn’t get into a 100% demonstrated need school, I would not be able to afford it, and dont’t want the loans, but thankfully it looks like I can stay in the U.S. but I’m kind of sad because Seoul is the bomb…
