I agree with @bluberaptor, all of these schools are highly selective, and being a female Asian is going to make it difficult.

I say:
Yale - High Reach
Harvard - High Reach
Princeton - Reach
U Penn - Reach
Duke - Reach
Northwestern - High Match
Georgetown - High Match
Amherst - Match
UNC - Match

Yeah, scratch that mediocre part. I’d say she’s competitive, but not extremely competitive.

@bluberaptor is right. I’m a junior taking BC, which “seems impressive” in my small private school (since I’m the only junior taking BC). However, all of my Asian friends in the nearby public school are at least taking BC, and a fair proportion of them are taking DiffEQ. The sad truth is that many smaller private schools simply lack the resources to allow much acceleration (especially in math).

Taking calc BC as a junior puts your on par with other competitive applicants, but I wouldn’t say it’s something that makes you stand out.

@cjwu382 I live in SoCal and one of my neighboring schools Troy High School has freshmen taking Calc BC with Senior kids going as far as Real Analysis…

Dang. You have a great application. I’m a little jealous hahaha!

My advice is two fold. 1) don’t forget about taking sat ii and 2) don’t apply to allll reaches.

Yale early - I think you’ll get in. They accept a better % early and that’ll be the nail in the coffin for you

Harvard, Princeton / I think you have as good a shot as anyone. But it’s a reach for everyone.

Upenn - I think you will most likely get in.

Everything else on your list is a slam dunk except duke and northwestern. Both of which I would be surprised to see you not get in at.

Chance back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1643813-duke-ed-chances.html#latest

I agree with @NotreDame75 about the SAT IIs. Yale requires them (and there are probably more on your list). Just take them and study for them beforehand, and @virago1 you’ll do fine.

If you get into TASP, I would say Yale is a high match.

He would need a couple of Olympiad medals to have Yale be referred to as a high match.

Yale (EA): Low Reach
Princeton: Low Reach
Harvard: Low Reach
UPenn: High Match
Northwestern: Match
Georgetown: Match
Amherst: Match
Duke: High Match
UNC Chapel Hill: low match
PSHC: Safety

Please chance!
