As so much of the application process depends on the “subjective feelings” that an admissions director gets when they read your essays and teacher recommendations, and compares them against every other applicant, no one can say what kind of chance you have. Your test scores and GPA put you into the competitive pile, but beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess – especially with the ‘fine’ teacher rec.

MIT has a great section on their website about teacher recs. You need both teachers to give you stellar recs – not just one ‘good’ and one ‘fine’ one. If possible, try get another teacher to write you a ‘good’ rec. See: [Writing Recommendations | MIT Admissions](How to write good letters of recommendation | MIT Admissions). Best of luck to you!

Your scores definitely make you a competitive applicant, and you clearly have a passion for biology and latin! Because I really cannot judge you, my only advice is to make sure your essays are brilliant and that your personality shines through. You’re going to end up at a fantastic school! Best of luck!
