<p>Thanks @KiaraInNYC ! Yale is definitely my first choice so I’m hoping legacy will help there, but when it comes to other schools, will they really care about the alma maters of my sibling? I won’t be listing extended family members so they would only know about my sister. I hope my legacy wouldn’t hurt me at other schools</p>
<p>Got a 790 on US History! I don’t think ill be taking French and Lit unless I’m unhappy with my AP scores in those two subjects…
SAT II (place score in parentheses): 800 Biology, 760 Chemistry, 790 US History
Yay for the end of standardized testing! Except I still have to take the SAT to confirm national merit :(</p>
<p>@crazyfrog821 If you look at Amherst Admissions, they tend to dislike ivy legacy <a href=“College Admissions: Inside the Decision Room - YouTube”>College Admissions: Inside the Decision Room - YouTube; So it could hurt, depending on the school.</p>
<p>And also, seeing the Stanford, AND Harvard, AND Yale legacy will probably hurt you when not applying to an ivy or stanford</p>
<p>Wow! Just wow! I wish I had as much as you did on my app, especially since I’m thinking about applying to Yale, too. Goodness-- I don’t even know if I can compare but props to you for all your amazing … everything.</p>
<p>@omgeegee Thanks so much!
I get my second semester junior grades in two days… Im not super optimistic but Im hoping that i’ll pull through. Ill be sure to update this thread when they come out and with my AP scores on July 5th.
In the meantime, my college counseling office at school gave me my “Chance Chart”,
Safety: NYU, UMichigan
Low Match: Carleton, Tufts
Match: Pomona, Middlebury
High Match: Bowdoin, Brown
Low Reach: Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Harvard
This is essentially a Naviance calculation based solely off of my grades, course rigor, standardized testing, and my schools history with these colleges. It does not factor in institutional priorities (legacy, Affirmative Action) or ECs.
Thoughts?</p>
<p>Got my grades back from second semester junior year! I got all A’s and a B+ in the advanced math course (the hardest class in the entire school, has a notorious reputation).
Calculated GPA:
3.79
Like I said my school does not calculate Weighted GPA but i will have the “Most Rigorous” designation for my schedule!
Ill update when I get my AP scores, T minus 18 days!</p>
<p>AP Scores:
AP French Lit: 5
US History: 5
Physics B: 5
AP Lit: Error - currently looking into this
With three 5s under my belt (including one self studied), have my chances changed? I chance back!</p>
<p>I thought AP French Lit wasn’t offered as an exam anymore? Do you mean AP French Lang?</p>
<p>Sorry! i meant AP French Language and Culte, thanks @tosinwashere !</p>
<p>I promised to keep this threat updated so here goes: Submitted my application to Yale today!</p>
<p>Sure you will get in … Good Luck </p>
<p>thanks @cutie1234 !!</p>
