Chance me for Yale SCEA?

<p>Yale is my top choice right now (and obviously a reach, I just wanted to hear some feedback on my stats/EC's), but it would also be nice if you could chance me for Columbia, Stanford (legacy), Northwestern and USC!</p>

<p>I'm currently a junior in high school. I'm Asian-American and attend an extremely competitive public school in California. </p>

<p>Course Loads (maximum of 7 classes):
Freshman - Lit/Writ, Biology, Alg2/Trig, String Orchestra, Spanish 2, Java, PE
Sophomore - World Lit, World History, Chem Honors, Pre-Calc Honors, Chamber Orchestra (audition only), Spanish 3
Junior - AP Calc AB, Spanish Honors, AP Music Theory, Physiology, Chamber Orchestra, Am Lit Honors, US History
Senior - AP Stats, AP Spanish, AP Environmental Science, AP Literature, Reg Gov/AP Econ, Chamber Orchestra, Weight Training (PE)</p>

<p>Stats:
GPA: 3.85 unweighted, 4.16 weighted
not sure about school ranking
SAT: 2370 (800 writing, 11 on essay, 800 reading, 770 math)
SAT II's: Math II (720, will retake to probably an 800), Literature, Spanish
PSAT: 235 (80 writing, 80 reading, 75 math)
AP's: Music Theory, Language and Composition, Calculus AB, Environmental Science, Statistics, Literature and Writing, Economics, Spanish (I have yet to take all of these! Most likely a 4-5 on all of these.)</p>

<p>Regarding my GPA, I've earned mostly A's, except for 3 B's in sophomore year (2 in Chemistry Honors, 1 in Spanish 3) and 1 C last semester in AP Calculus AB. Believe me, I'm doing as much as I can to boost this; studying really hard to get a 5 on the AP test, currently looking at an A in the class this semester. I'm also having my sophomore year math teacher (he knows me really really well) to write one of my rec letters, so that may be a boost. My counselor will write a little note as well, since most of the bad grades were because of some personal problems.</p>

<p>Just a heads up: I play the double bass, and you will see that a LOT of my extracurriculars involve music.</p>

<p>Volunteering:
MUSE (11, 12) - co-president, volunteer club that performs at senior centers every month, hosts an annual benefit concert to raise funds for causes like hurricane relief or third-world orphanages
Tri-M Music Honor Society (9, 10, 11, 12) - president since 11, volunteer club that performs at hospitals
Fire Explorers Club (9, 10, 11, 12) - officer/social manager, this club provides First Aid to local events (e.g. 5K runs)</p>

<p>Extras:
Completed all 12 levels of CAPMT piano + theory testing
School's chamber orchestra - principal bassist for the past 3 years and definitely my senior year
CYS (local orchestra, pretty prestigious + competitive) (10, 11, 12) - currently co-principal bassist
Santa Clara County Honor Band (11) - no seating, as there is only one bassist
California All-State Honors Orchestra (10, 11, very likely 12) - principal bassist for the past 2 years, hopefully next year too
NAfME All-National Honors Orchestra (11) - principal bassist
UC Berkeley Summer Symphony (11) and Stanford Summer Symphony (11)
NYO-USA (11, hopefully 12) - seating yet to be decided! this is a VERY competitive and prestigious national orchestra hosted by Carnegie Hall and completely free, look it up if you want more info!</p>

<p>I may also apply to From the Top, which is a radio show hosted by NPR that features young classical musicians (though being selected is pretty unlikely, why not? Might as well :P )</p>

<p>Misc:
I am CPR + First Aid certified!!!! Yay!!!!!</p>

<p>I'm definitely leaning towards majoring in music and possibly doubling in literature. I'm not sure about applying to conservatories because I'd really like a college experience not completely limited to music; there are still tons of things I want to explore!</p>

<p>Yeah, that's about it, thanks for reading through all of that~~ I guess I'm just worried about my low GPA compared to 918351739 other applicants. Any sort of feedback/chances would be great, thank you!!!</p>

<p>bump</p>

<p>bump please! i need to decide if i want to apply to yale scea or just rd and am very unsure :frowning: any feedback?</p>

<p>shameless bump~</p>
