<p>Everything seems to be okay… except for your GPA. While your SAT score is good, at top schools, a high SAT score is expected. Your GPA makes you less competitive. I’m not saying it’s impossible. However, I’d apply to other schools, and work my butt off on applications to try and make up as much as possible for your GPA. Try and stand out and possibly your Yale dreams might come true.</p>

<p>Hmm your GPA is really low for someone applying to ivies…it certainly makes you less competitive. Why are your standardized testing scores so high even though you have a low gpa? It shows schools that you’re not working to your fullest potential</p>

<p>Largely unimpressive GPA, subpar SAT II scores, and few AP courses taken junior year make Yale a very high reach for you.
Unless of course you’re Hispanic or Black… Then I’d say your 2310 gets you in regardless.</p>

<p>Retaking standardized tests at that level or taking the ACT is pointless. Why are your junior year AP “5’s” only likely? Didn’t you get them back? As others have said, your GPA will be a challenge and the transcript is really the most important piece of your application. Your target schools need to be a notch lower leaving little room to do those apps well and still apply to 8/8 Ivy’s.</p>

<p>When Yale is admitting under 8%, anything that is amiss is potentially a knock out blow. Not excellent GPA is definitely a disadvantage unless it can be shown your top kids in the HS have similar GPAs.</p>

<p>Yale is admitting near 7%. To say 40% is a monster statement/prediction. I know you’re trying to be helpful but perhaps you should revise your chancing…</p>

<p>Another way of putting this is that Yale (and schools like it) are able to fill their classes with people who have excellent GPA, excellent scores, AND excellent ECs. If you’re only pretty good in one (or more) of these categories, you aren’t going to have a strong chance of admission unless you have something else to counterbalance that. This could be a hook–you might be a legacy, or an underrepresented minority (URM), or a recruitable athlete–or it might be some really impressive achievement, like winning a major prize, starting your own successful business, etc.</p>

<p>Looking at the OP’s information, we see a GPA that is good, but not excellent. ECs are strong, but is there one that shows extraordinary achievement by OP as an individual? It’s not clear–are you a good enough skier to be recruited at a college that has a ski team (I don’t know what Yale has in this regard)? Eagle Scout is an excellent EC, but there are many Eagle Scouts. Is there another hook? Do you come from, say, Idaho?</p>
