Low gpa- didn't care about school freshman year, or beginning of sophmore. realized it mattered and started trying about halfway through soph year.

Intrested in applying for Communications or Business or maybe Journalism. (Not really sure yet about major. I am good in business classes and its somewhat interesting, but my real passion is movies and the discussion of them. If I could do something combining the two of them that would be amazing)

From NJ, top 10 public highschool. Nationally recognized school (Northern Highlands in Allendale NJ)

Would likely be applying to most if not all for EA

What is your CUMULATIVE GPA now? Is this unweighted or weighted? What is your class rank? How many AP’s are offered at your school? This info will help us chance you.

How will you “establish” Florida residency? Schools ask for your parents tax returns (on which you are claimed as dependent) and will see which state they paid taxes to/filed in.

Miami- my First choice-high match
Michigan-reach
vanderbilt-high reach
maryland-match
penn st-high match/low reach

As long as I keep up my current pace, my Cumulative GPA for first 3 years will be around a 3.2 . My school doesn’t rank. GPA is all unweighted/weighted on same scale. School offers a lot of APs, If i had to guess probobly 2/3 of those available.

When I said I can establish residency in FL, it was because a few years ago when my grandmother on my father’s side was getting older, she transferred the rights to her florida house over to us. She’s gone now ( ), and we own the house and have been renting it out and paying taxes on it for years now.

What else would you guys reccomend as a match/reach/ safety?

just checked my schools site- they offer exactly 18 AP’s. I took the only ones i was eligable to take due to my early lower GPA not meeting pre-reqs.

I’m gonna have to disagree with everyone else about Miami. It’s improved a lot as a school and is becoming very prestigious.

Miami- my First choice-reach
Michigan-very high reach
vanderbilt-high reach
maryland-reach
penn st-match
syracuse-match

Florida- reach
Florida State- not sure

you need some safeties dude. I actually know some people @highlands… massive school! Sorry to be brutally honest, but i would scratch off some reaches like NYU and vandy. My friend applied ED to vandy this year with a 2060 (something like that), very good GPA and mostly honors classes, and also went to a summer program over the summer and got a recommendation from the dean.

Maybe try rutgers as more of an easier match and URI/Temple as a safety?
