(Asian male from California)
chances?
I think it’s very likely that you’ll get in based on your stats/ECs and the fact that you don’t need FA.
But one thing I learned during the application process was that stats aren’t everything. I have a friend (also an Asian male like you) who had relatively similar stats that you have, and he was rejected. And there were quite a few ppl in my class who were more qualified than me but were rejected while I was accepted. But I am a black female and i wrote a killer essay on culture and learning to accept myself and i think that that played the biggest role in my acceptance.
Overall, I think that you have a good chance at getting in, but washu’s acceptance process is sorta whack in my opinion so I also wldnt be suprised if you were rejected too.
@nineteeth123 I agree. I think one of the biggest factors is demonstrated intersest, did you apply ED or visit/ do and interview while the others did not?
Honestly, WashU was not one of my top choices. I only applied because my teacher recommended it to me. So I showed absolutely no interest to that school (besides my application of course) and I applied regular decision. I’m not sure how much interest my classmates showed but they couldn’t have shown any less interest than I did.
They will like that you showed improvement after 9-10th, and really like your classes. Your ECs look awesome, especially the leadership ones.
I’m not sure about your essay though. I can understand why you might want to do that, but you do still have to consider other schools in case wash doesn’t pan out. Something more general may work better, and you don’t want to look to narcissistic.
As for interest, you can think of WashU as an Ivy with the heart of a mid-western college. Prestigious, but overly friendly. You have to show love to get love, so interest interest interest.
@Sarcophyton are you a admmited student?
