Chance Me- George Washington

Hello! I am an incoming senior at a nationally ranked high school in Lower Merion School District. I was wondering if someone could chance me for GW Early Decision?

Florida- Freshman and Sophomore years- All pre-IB classes in Florida, mostly A's and a few B's.
Pennsylvania- Junior and Senior years- All IB courses (Diploma Programme) Grades here are more towards B's and B+ due to a very different grading scale i.e. a 90 is a B+ and a 92 is an A.
GPA: 4.64 Unweighted on a 5.0 scale. Weighted is quite inflated due to IB and AP courses.
One AP class- European History- Score of 4

SAT- 1720
Reading- 560
Writing- 570
Math- 590
Essay- 8
Am retaking this weekend- hope to improve significantly

SAT II
Spanish- 690
Reading- 540
US History- 510

Extracurriculars
Chorus
NHS
Dance
Soccer
Guitar

Community Service- IB requires a lot so 100+
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Feeding America
YMCA
NHS (various community service)
The Pencil Project (self initiated)
Franklin Institute
Ecuador- Orphanages and Elderly
GemsNOTGenocide- Sends money to a Darfurian School

Recommendations
I am planning on have my IB Core facilitator/ Spanish Teacher (someone who takes care of community service)
Also my Psychology teacher

Thank you!

I think it’s a reach unless you bring that SAT up. Do not submit those SAT2’s.

ED helps a lot. Can you send only Spanish or was it taken with the others?

No way with those SAT II… And that SAT I has to be higher if you want to be competitive

Unfortunately I already sent the SAT II scores in because I didn’t expect to do as poorly on the others, but they don’t require all three so I’m hoping that doesn’t play too much of a role. I am working towards higher SAT score, and I’m also going in for an interview in August which I hope will help display some of my other qualities besides my terrible SAT scores.
Also I just checked and the SAT II’s are only recommended for the honors program, so is it possible they will disregard them?

GWU: Reach

Honestly you should attend somewhere else first, spend a year or two there, put your act together and then transfer into GWU.

GPA is fine, SATs (and IIs) not so much. 25th-75th percentiles in each section for accepted students at GW are roughly low 600’s (25th) to very high 600s (75th). Your SATs are not even in the ballpark. If your SAT redo doesn’t give you the improved results you want, try taking the ACT. Lots of students who do poorly on one test do much better on the other, and GW accepts either.
