Essays/Recs:
Like everyone, I THINK they're in God's version of Reader's Digest...
I THINK they have "hooks"
I THINK they show my dedication to service AT CAMP

Community Service?: effectively zip...at least these first months of senior year

Now in my defense, if that counts, I really don't know too many great community service opportunities in my community. I was never aware people racked up hundreds of hours until I came to CC (thought like 20 hours over a year was a lot). I'm not bashing those who do this much work, nor am I bashing people's intentions when they do this much work. The most cynical students could hardly be any more cynical than myself.

I understand though that even a devil doing service is still signaling to colleges that they can fit it all into their schedule...

That said, chance me for the one and only...

“Camp counselor/Nature Staff at scout camp for nine weeks every summer since end of 8th grade

This sounds like community service to me…??

Yes, summer is non-stop action doing what I love and helping little boy scouts literally 24 hours a day (yeah, I’m unnecessarily bragging)…

but come school year, I don’t “rack up” ANYTHING really.

Taking everything else into account though, how do I stand?

Maybe I’m just ignorant, but I don’t think it matters WHEN you do the community service as long as you do it. All of my community service was done over the summer as well. I think it shows that you are doing something productive with your summers! :)

Taking everything into account, you probably have as good of a chance as anyone. It’s really hard to predict with places like Princeton, but everything looks pretty solid. You just need to make sure your essays really stand out and that you come across as a unique applicant because some of your activities are pretty standard in Princeton applicants.

Some socioeconomic/gender/racial info would help, but I’d say a mid reach with your given stats.

Thank you Eiffel, I’ve browsed around your threads for the hell of it and believe your own service creds are pretty nasty
(in the best way possible)

That said…anyone else care to laud or belittle my chances for Princeton?

to answer: AVERAGE WALLETED WHITE MALE

I’m sorry, socioraciogendero stuff always annoyed me…

but thanks for the input

Didn’t you go to other people’s Eagle projects? That’s community service, too.

Unless you did the bare minimum, then you’ll only have 18-20 hours. I don’t think that you should worry about it, though.

I’m bumping this for a comparison with the 300+ fellows all over the place here.

…and just more input in general…

I appreciate the generous commentary so far.

Quick take:

SATs and IIs: solid
GPA: strong but a little light in the AP department, I assume few were offered
Rank: good put less than perfect
ECs: Very good, you look real as oppossed to a resume padder. No glaring lack of CS!

My (non)verdict:

Definitely qualified, so you clear that hurdle. Could go either way.

Good luck!

You’ve got the credentials to get in. I can’t say any more than that. Admissions are too subjective after this point.
