I’m currently a full-time student at ACC (Austin Community College) that is eventually looking to transfer to UT Austin or TAMU. Right now I am finishing up transfer requirements such as: MATH 408K/308K, MATH 408L/308L, ECON 304K, and ECON 304L since these courses are applicable to each major I’m applying for. I’m hoping to transfer into one of the schools for the 2017 Fall Semester if possible.
My target major(s) are, in order:
McCombs: Management Information Systems (UT)
McCombs: Management (UT)
COLA: Economics (UT)
Mays: Management Information Systems (TAMU)
Mays: Management (TAMU)
Economics (TAMU)
Now I know business schools are extremely difficult to get into, but I do think I have a shot. My College GPA at ACC after high-school is a straight 4.0. However, I was a relatively unproductive high-school student, I took two dual-credit courses (that do get factored into college GPA) during my Junior year and made a C (2.0) in both of them. Sadly this takes my College GPA down to just above a 3.7. I have a feeling that while a 3.7 may not be “McCombs” worthy, the fact that these crappy grades were from high-school may give me some wiggle room when admissions takes a look through my credentials.
For the record, I would not be opposed to transferring into an economics program and then perhaps attempting an “internal” transfer to the same university’s business school the following year if I am denied admission to a business program.
Please let me know what you think, I’m all ears.
