Anyone yet??
Come on I am gonna submit all my applications this week, so I would like to know my chances… If it is very hard to get into this colleges, I can apply to some not so selective ones…
Help

You look good for Oberlin, Colby, Grinnell-all matches, and F&M should be a safety. Don’t know UW Madison. Dartmouth and Middlebury are reaches, but no reason not to go for it. If you want to add a few more, consider Macalester (match) and Carleton (reach) in the midwest, and Bates (match) and Bowdoin (reach) in Maine. Consider Vassar (match if you are male and reach if you are female.) If you are okay with the south, look at Davidson, Hendrix and Rhodes.

Thanks M’s Mom.
Yes I know Middlebury and Dartmouth are reaches. But I decided to give it a shot…
I wanted to apply for Davidson, but I thought is a high reach, as I apply for FA…
I am also thinking of UPittsburgh as I can afford the cost of attendance —> I won’t need for FA + it’s awesome in neuroscience.
Any opinions…?
Which of those you suggested or other colleges are good in biology and neuroscience and have a deadline on 15-Jan or after?

I read my counselors and my teacher’s recs… they said that:
-I am probably the best student our school ever had.
-born to become a leader…or a leading figure smthing like that.
-unique personality that will enrich a college community.

And in general all rec’s were really praising…
Also the courses I am taking

Maths (calculus + analysis)
Statistics
Advanced Physics (waves, motion of liquids and solids)
General Physics
Chemistry
Biology (Molecular and genetics)
Ecology
Sociology
Principles of Economic Theory
Greek Language
Literature
Ancient Greek Language
English
Religious
Contemporary History of the Modern World

All classes are very rigorous and are regulated by the Greek Ministry of Education

Also, I’ll definitely get a 20.0/20.0 (A+) to all of them.

Excellent application, although the SATs are on the low side, ont much ECs, and not much leadership. However, if you are intending ot major in neuroscience/biology, why are applying to LACs? aA technical institute seems more appropriate. Good luck.

Well, I think LACs are really good at sciences. Small classes, research opportunities + liberal art education…
Moreover, I also applied to UW Madison and thinking to apply to U Pittsburgh, which are both big and technical univeristies.

Anyone else? I would like to read some more evaluations…

Hey,
Thanks for the chances.
I got rejected for Dartmouth ED. As it was my ‘dream school’ for a long, long time I researched a lot to know where I went wrong!
Just to let you know, it’ll probably be a reach for you as well.
However, for colleges like Midd and Dartmouth, it often comes down to how many apps are send from your country and what’s your standing amongst those applicants.
And considering that you’re applying ED II to Midd, you have a pretty good chance as I doubt too many kids apply ED to Midd from Greece.
The rest; Oberlin, Grinnel and Colby seem like match to me.
Dunno about the rest of the schools.
Good luck!
:)

Well, I think you’re right about Mid. I doubt if any other Greek student apply ED to Mid this year…and maybe only few (very few) RD. Greeks are mostly “in love” with the Ivies and MIT.
Ok I would like to read more evaluation. That’s the complete list:

Just COPY and POST your opinion: high reach(0-5%), middle reach(5-10%),low reach(10-20%), high match(20-35%), match(35-60%), mow match(60-70%), safety(70-…%)

hi! i am also an international student, but i am from China. I am very into LACs coz i love small classes alot! your ECs are great but how is your essays? great TOEFL, good SAT…hmm and AMAZING class rank!!

Middlebury (EDII)–i am a little nervous about it. low reach
Dartmouth–low reach
Oberlin—high match
Grinnell–match
Colby—this school is great in Bio! i would say a match
F&M—in. great chance for FA
UW Madison----in

Thanks welliu
Well I know that Midd is certainly a reach but the fact that I want to major in neuroscience/biology may be kinda of an advantage. I believe that applying to Midd with the desire to major in language or in english may put you in a more competitive pool, while applying to science may be not so competitive.
Am I right?

GreekStudent, tell me? How does applying to a more obscure major help in the admissiono process? Aren’t we going to be admitted to the college/university rather than a specific major (specially in terms of liberal arts)?

Well, the major that we declare in the common app is not binding and it is generally stated that it is not affect our chances of admission. However, in order to keep a balance admission officers always take into account our major interest. For example, Caltech and MIT want to have students not only into their science and engineering departments… so they may pick some applicants (maybe not as qualified as others) to follow an other academic pathway eg history, social sciences ect.
Yet, all these refer to non-typical procedures…

hey man Im Greek too!!!
maybe you could take the SAT again and have chances at some Ivies
I knew that Greek students can score 800s in Math…our educational system is very demanding
Sorry I can’t chance you I am not familiar with those colleges’ admissions rates etx

Where you say I am in? In ALL of them? I absolutely doubt about it… Maybe in 1, 2, 3 or amybe 4 of them the maximum. Remember I APPLIED FOR AID.
