All are lottery schools so top stats are essential. You are qualified but there no guarantees. Make sure you have some Match and Safety schools on your list.
There really isn’t enough information for us to guess. However, noting that you appear to be an international student your chances at any of Harvard, MIT, or Stanford are probably not better than 1% or 2%, and this is assuming that you actually do manage a 1500 on the SAT. Apply if you want to but definitely focus on other schools where you are more likely to get in.
You have an impressive amount of internships but so do many others. Harvard and Stanford are still within your reach, howbeit high ones. Chance me back?
@uglylad Harvard, Stanford, MIT are arguably the strongest, most prestigious and toughest-to-get-in universities in the US. Even people with perfect scores and awards are not guaranteed admission. If you manage to get 1530+ on the SAT and given your grades, you will be within the feasible range for admission. But this is far from a guarantee of admission. Especially as an international student the competition is beyond insane for these three given that they are the most prominent internationally and every top international student is vying for them.
All the schools you chose are great schools but I think you should apply to a greater range of schools or EA/ED? I think a PS on your passion for computers would be great.
If you could chance me that would be greatly appreciated.
You still only have a 1-2% chance of getting into those schools. I also wouldn’t bother with chance threads until you have real standardized test scores.
Computers and radios are NOT hooks. A hook is why a school would specifically want one candidate over other similarly qualified candidates. Examples of common hooks are recruited athlete, child of a huge donor, someone with a tremendous accomplishment (ex. Malala, Olympic gold medalist,) or something along those lines. In short, a hooked candidate fills an institutional need/desire of a college.
Please note that whoever is applying to those schools are also academically excellent with impressive extra-curriculars. You have not taken SAT or ACT yet. Keep on working hard and may be you will get in.
Over the past six years, Harvard College has enrolled 1-3 Pakistani applicants per year. Some may be athletic recruits (although a quick check of the squash team rosters didn’t show any members from Pakistan). If you are the single most impressive applicant from your country in the right year, you probably have a pretty good chance.
You’re obviously a very good student, and justly proud of how well you have done. But are you really “sure AF” your whole package, including grades, standardized tests, essays, and recommendation letters, will stand out as the absolute best in Pakistan? If so, then great, keep up the great work. If not, then you need to think about what will make your application truly great, but also you need to think about other options, too.
