I got a 32C for your ACT, not a 31. Either way, I might try and raise this if possible. IMO, your ecs seem a little weak. How are your essays and recommendations?

You’ve got a solid chance, but I’d advise you to find a couple more match/safety schools.

Thanks a lot! I’m a writer, so I’m praying my essays are going to pull me through.

A weighted 4.2 doesn’t mean much to me because weighted GPA is calculated so differently by different high schools. What is your unweighted GPA with the scale of A=4 and B=3 (assuming nothing lower)?

What is your budget? Have you run the NPC on all of the above and are your parents fine with the result?

Do you know what you are likely to major in? Have you thought about what you want in a school? What year are you in? What state are you from?

UC GPA capped weighted and Fully weighted for the UC’s? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Intended major? In-state CA resident?

@Gumbymom

UC GPA: 4.45
Ca resident
Intended major: history

Unless you have some undisclosed hook, I would save your money on application fees to the Ivys and focus on the possibles and likelies.

@DadTwoGirls
Weighted GPA: 4.2 (My school doesn’t have unweighted)
Major: History
From: CA
Budget: Not a concern

I have no preference in schools. I am partly applying to as many schools as I can since I’m not sure.

“My school doesn’t have unweighted”

Then can you tell us what your grades are? A weighted 4.2 really means nothing at all. This could be all A+'s, or it could be half A’s and half B’s.

@DadTwoGirls
Straight A/A+ Sophmore, Junior
One B+ Freshmen

What do published author and national team USA refer to? Unless there is something good there, it doesn’t look good for your reaches.

NYU is not a likely. USC, U Chicago, and Cornell are reaches. Probably others in your match category that are reaches but I’m not familiar with all of them. Rice is probably a low reach.
