Essays are decent, but I guess they could be better. Recs are pretty good too, but my teachers didn't seem to say much, except for one, and he pretty much regurgitated the whole resume I sent to him for inspiration. I'm slightly concerned about it...

But yeah, any comments are welcome! Thanks!

You don’t need a 4.0 to get into Harvard and Yale.
Don’t listen to the guy above me.

You have the grades and decent SAT scores, but I don’t see anything else that stands out.
In-state for Berkeley?

Mike Jones is just a piece of ghetto trash. Go back to rapping, you fool.

moderator, please delete Mike Jones’s post

first, I’d like to say you have a very well-thought out list of schools… a healthy combination of reaches and matches.
i’m sure you’ll get into Emory, probly not scholars. and you’ll get into UC too with your GPA
The Ivies will be reaches, however.
I know you wish you could have another chance to retake your SAT, but they are within range.
Your EC’s are lackluster.
Good job being honest with yourself about your recommendations and essays. For Ivies, these are very important, and lacking in these areas will hurt you.

Good luck at Wash U and Duke. I’m most curious about how these 2 will treat you.

You don’t. Your username, an African American rapper, won’t make me believe anything you say.

great SAT’s, rank, gpa, and a rigorous courseload…

you’ll be like 99% of the other applicants, i have no doubt that great recs. and a jaw dropping essay will get you in…bonne chance!

who doesn’t… But anyway you have a shot like everyone else so cross your fingers and pray to God, Allah, Lucifer, or whatever.

You’re going to need another SAT II for Princeton. They require three.

HYMPS (in your case HYP), as nearly anyone on CC will tell you are reaches for everyone and i seriously doubt anyone can give you a good guarantee of an acceptance at anyone of those places (it’s really up to the adcoms). that having been said, you;re taking an extremely rigorous courseload and are doing well in them, you’ve got the ECs. So if your essays and recs and any good, you’re on the right track.

You’re a match or Emory and UW. You better demonstrate and individual passion for HYP and Duke. There are kids with stats 10 times as better who get rejected.

Don’t feel bad though. With your high school record, 99% of all schools would be happy to have you.

Gaffe - I live in Florida, so that’d be a no. Is that bad?

Vandan - It’ll be e) all of the above. You can never pray too much. ;P

Roxxy - You almost gave me a heart attack. I totally forgot that I took a third SAT II in English Literature (ended up with a 710) until you mentioned the Princeton requirement. But yeah, thank you for the reminder!

Thanks guys…For a second, I was gullible enough to believe in what Jones said…shame on me! The rest of the responses are pretty much what I’m expecting from the real colleges…Glad for the reassurance of actually getting in somewhere out-of-state.

As to safe schools, I didn’t think I’d need to mention them (University of Miami and University of Florida) here cause if they’re really the safe schools I said they are, I wouldn’t need to chance them.

Thanks again for all the responses…^^

For state schools, admissions is easier if you are in-state.

WashU is a crazy waitlist (ab)user if you do not show demonstrated interest. Emory is just a step or two down in intensity.
