Chance Me (HELP)

I just applied to Florida State a few weeks ago, and I don’t know if I would realistically get in at my stats

Male
Economics major intended

Live in New York (OOS)
GPA: 85 %
SAT: 1940 (one sitting), 1970 (best three scores)
No ACT or SAT II

Varsity Football (Jr, Sr) , NYS Section Champion team
Varsity Track (Fr, So, Jr)
Debate Team (Fr, So, Jr) - Debate was cut by HS during Jr year
Varsity Lacrosse (Sr)
Student Council (Fr, So) President of Student Council
Some Volunteer Service

All Honors and AP Courses
Some 65-70% grades (trig, pre calc, and something else)
Never failed a class though

Senior Course Load
AP MACROECONOMICS
AP PHYSICS C: MECHANICS
AP PHYSICS C: ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM
AP GOVERNMENT
AP ENGLISH LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION
PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS: COLLEGE PREP

Currently working on my first business, included that in the resume

Behavioral record: Mentioned that there were some minor fights, etc. And that I have not had any incidents since first month of Junior year. Talked about what I’ve learned from the experiences. Will this hurt my app? Will they dig up my behavior file at school?

What do you think? I haven’t submitted the essay yet. Should I explain why my gpa is low or just talk about positive stuff?
Do students with such low grades get in or is it a rarity?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Anyone? I’ve wanted to go here for a long time, but I need to make some plans if I’m really expecting to move down to Florida… do you guys think it’s likely?

From the look of it you have had at least a D on your transcript. That alone would severely hurt your prospects but combined with a disciplinary record for fighting your junior year make it highly unlikely you would be accepted.

I have to agree with the comment above. Your GPA is lower than their average applicant as well.

By FSU Core’s weighting of +5 for honors, I don’t have a D anymore, but does anyone know if thats considered a C or not? And I called in to FSU and they told me that the behavior is a separate evaluation thats done before your application is read and once you are approved for behavior, then you app is read by an admissions officer who cannot see your behavior record… Thoughts?

It might have the weight of a C, but it’s still a grade of a D on your transcripts, and it is still a big negative.

Got accepted! Thanks for your help everyone!
