Hook: Simply, that I'm a teenage entrepreneur. I've been making websites and making money from them since 4th grade It's a huge passion of mine. I'll be talking about how I grew as a person as I got older and more experienced (and from trial and error!).

I think it’s great that you make websites and all that, but that’s hardly a “unique” EC in this day and age. Especially at Stanford, which has a very strong computer science department, there will be a ton of people applying with similar EC’s. I was an admin at a pretty big forum for a couple of years but I deifnitely didn’t count that as an “EC”, even though I spent a ton of time on it.

Besides, that 3.6 GPA is really going to be a huge damper in your chances. In fact, over 90% of all admitted students at Stanford have over a 3.75 UW as per the Freshman profile. That leaves you as less than 10% of a group that is already extremely selective. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t apply to Stanford by any means, if it’s your dream school, then I guess everyone needs to take a shot at their dream. Just don’t hold your breath for Stanford, since the odds are not in your favor at all.

5k a month make a big difference? I will of course, be emphasizing the income. Of course I don’t make 5k every month, but my businesses + websites make a nice income

Many others make websites but…they aren’t in it for Internet marketing and for making some income

I run an internet marketing business and I do similar things. I dont think I even mentioned that on my app. Sure, you make a lot of money, but so what? That kind of stuff is not attractive to STanford. They want to see how you’re not only advancing yourself, but the world too.

I disagree. Making money in a business is way more impressive then typical high school ec. Stanford in particular loves entrepreneurs. Whether it can overcome the gpa I have no idea, but I think it is a shot.

The other thing is I see you’re interning with an orthopedic surgeon. Do you intend to go into medicine? If so, then the website programming isn’t going to do you a whole lot.

If you do plan on going into computer science, then I think you should get some boost from it. You should make this evident though that you do intend to start your own computer business, become an entrepreneur in the tech field, etc. This will make your EC’s show a true passion that you wish to dedicate your life and career to.

Once again, Stanford gets to choose form the top applicants in the entire world. A 3.6 GPA will make it very, very unlikely that you get admitted unless you are a) a recruited athlete, or b) a legacy. There will be plenty of the best high schoolers in computers applying to Stanford, which is widely renowned for it’s computer science department.

I am most likely going into computer science :)

Unfortunately I’m neither of what you said I feel like I have no chance because of my gpa, but I also feel like my EC might just be able to bring some hope back

its either a 3.6/3.7 UW, but with an upward trend weighted

My point is, sure he’s doing great, making more than i have for sure. But if he’s already doing well, then why does he need to go to Stanford as his GPA is already low, but he’s very successful?

But Loopyz, you’ll do well in life no matter where you go, i think that’s evident. You may end up at a school that’s not your top choice, but keep working on that biz and you’ll do wonderful.

Please don’t give up I’m a current Stanford student, and you already sound amazing to me. I hope you get in, because I’d love to meet you! GPA is important, but you sound passionate about your business, and as long as that passion stands out, you have a chance. Please take that chance. I can tell you honestly that so many people here didn’t think they would get in for one reason or another. You don’t need random people to tell you to apply; if you want to apply, and you sound like you do, just go for it!
