Low SSAT score.....73%
Needs Full FA

I am applying to Loomis, Kent, Avon Old Farms, Taft, and a semi-competitive day school.

Loomis and Kent have an ssat average in the mid-high 70’s for those who are admitted.
Avon is significantly lower so you should have a very good chance there otherwise (considering you’re strong profile). You might want to talk to the cross country coaches at Loomis, who won NEPSTA and Founders most recently.

Taft has an SSAT average in the 80’s last time I checked, and competition is slightly more difficult than loomis.

I don’t think you should worry. Your SSAT score is not that bad, CC just makes it seem so. Just because a school has a median score slightly higher or lower than another does not mean a score on the low side of it will cut off any chance. Not at all. For the school have that score, they had to accept lots of people with much higher and lower scores. So don’t pay too much attention to statistics like that-- they mean little to the individual. You have great stats and great grades to combat your ssat score (which is actually quite good-- you did better than 70 percent of the country!), plus your personality, which I am sure is delightful. That will come across in your interview and essays.

My advice is not to stress, and not to limit yourself to schools with lower ssat score medians. If you want to try for HADES, go for it! There are plenty of kids with scores lower than yours at those schools. Good luck!

Wow thank you. Yes, I believe that cc really does make my scores look bad. Well, we will all see on march 10th. Any more comments are appreciated.

From what I’ve heard sport’s a great hook=] You have great chances as they are interested in younger athletes for V teams…I gess SSATs are fine, the main thing are essays & interviews.

Ok thank you. In my interviews I really expressed my passion for sports. I can honestly say that my interviewers and I had a good talk. I believe that they really liked me :-)
