UCLA-Match

U Penn-Low Reach

Great stats, these are tough schools and it’s hard to say if one can get in because sometimes admissions are random: a buddy of mine was rejected from Wash U and he had a 36 on his ACT and is a great student. That being said, you have as good a chance as any. Great stats, you’ll be fine at most of these schools especially the non-ivies. Good luck!

Johns Hopkins- Barely a reach

UC Berkeley-Match

UCLA-Match

U Penn-Low Reach/High match

Columbia-Reach

Look at mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1629797-chances-at-top-colleges.html#latest</a></p>

most selective Ivies are reaches but most seem realistic, I think U can get into Cornell, which is where I’m trying to go.

chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1628869-chance-me-for-cornell-coe-junior.html#latest</a></p>

Except Columbia Northwestern and Yale
All other colleges you have pretty good chances
Only those three may need a little bit of luck

Johns Hopkins - low reach

UC Berkeley - high match, but admissions can be oddly picky

UCLA - same as Berkeley

U Penn - low reach (chances are better in ED)

Columbia - reach

Brown - low reach

Cornell - low reach/ high match

Rice - low reach/high match

Washington University of St. Louis (Legacy here) - show enough interest, and it can be a solid high match

University of Illinois Urbana Champaign - safety

Northwestern - low reach

University of Chicago - low reach

Duke - reach

Yale -reach

It’s a very reach-heavy list, but I think you’ll likely get into maybe 4 or 5 of the above schools. I just can’t really say which…

@nhdmaniac could you suggest some prestigious match schools for me

bumpppppppp

Dem ec’s though

 1. Johns Hopkins-high match
 2. UC Berkeley-match
 3. UCLA-match
 4. U Penn-low reach
 5. Columbia-reach
 6. Brown-low reach
 7. Cornell-high match
 8. Rice-match
 9. Washington University of St. Louis (Legacy here)-match
 10. University of Illinois Urbana Champaign- definite match
 11. Columbia-reach (you put Columbia twice)
 12. Northwestern-high match/low reach
 13. University of Chicago- low reach
 14. Duke-low reach
 15. Yale-reach

You should try to get 1 or 2 more safeties, and less low reaches. Try Emory, Vanderbilt, Rice, maybe Dartmouth

EC’S look great, ACT is great, but you GPA isn’t up to par with the schools you are applying to.

I’m no expert, but according to my GC, it is ALWAYS better to apply ED. If you we’re thinking about applying RD to let senior year bring your GPA and class rank up (I was considering that), don’t. Colleges still get to see your course load for senior year, so they know if you are still working hard. Also, you can always send colleges your first quarter grades to show them how you are doing. In addition to the obvious advantage of having a better chance of being accepted, applying ED also gives you better opportunities for scholarships. All of this information is courtesy of my GC; he made it sound like it is foolish to apply RD under pretty much any circumstance. Oh, almost forgot, I heard somewhere that you can increase your chances of acceptance at any given school by declaring an unpopular major (for example, instead of applying to Harvard Law School, apply to Harvard Education School). I asked my GC about this and he advised me not to do it (I forget why), but if your desperate, it just might be crazy enough to work.

Hope this helps and good luck with Columbia!
