Chance me!(I will chance back!)

I'm a junior and would like your guys feedback on what to improve! I'm still researching schools, but so far I'm is set on: NYU, George Washington, Dartmouth, Sorbonne, Georgetown, Barnard and Yale (huge reach, I know). I'm Native American and go to a public school (prestigious athletics, not academics unfortunately) in Utah.

I'm planning on majoring in Journalism or Political Science. Both are imbued into my heart and currently it's impossible to choose what I plan to pursue in!

ACADEMIC
GPA: 3.3. I know how devastating this is (my sob story does not cut it!), and I'm currently taking classes to raise my GPA. I plan on taking summer classes as well.

SAT: 2390
ACT: 34

**AP Classes I've taken (or currently taking) so far:
- AP US History-5
- AP Biology
- AP English Language & Composition
- AP World History-5
-AP French-5

**AP Classes I plan to take next year:
- AP Psychology
- AP German
- AP US Government & Politics
-AP Comparative Government & Politics
-AP Macro/Microeconomics

Online Classes: Out of academic curiosity
-Introduction to Sociology (offered by Princeton)
-Introduction to Philosophy

EXPERIENCE
- Interned for Merill Lynch. I was often fetching coffee, but I was allowed to sit through meetings and interact with executives. This internship gave me many connections.
- Currently interning for a congressman
-Served on my school's student senate. I was the president of the sustainability committee that introduced a program to reduce our school's carbon footprint.
-Political editor for my school's newspaper. My teacher mentioned that I would be suitable to be editor-in-chief next year.
-Was recently the high school field organizer for my city's presidential campaign. I invested in over 100 hours phone banking and canvassing in Colorado and Nevada.
-Currently president of my school's Red Cross
- President of GSA during my Freshman year

ACTIVITIES:
**Languages. I speak French and Navajo fluently, and German and Russian at a conversational status (will continue learning). I'm currently learning Latin (out of pure interest!).
Dance: 8 years
*I dance ballet, jazz and traditional Native American styles
*Was enrolled in the highest level dance course last year

-Red Cross Youth Council ( also participated in the leadership development camp). Intend to be on the executive committee next year.
- French Club: 3 years
* I was once interviewed by a visiting class from France at my school about Native American culture and my experiences on a reservation. It was featured in a local French newspaper.
* Served as one of the officers. Main responsibility was fundraising and assisting events.
* Hosted a French foreign exchange student for 2 weeks (I'm also hosting a German student this Spring!)
-FBLA (definitely determined to place in the top 10 for my state's competition!)
-City's youth council

Volunteering: 3 years
- Recently joined an assisted living home as a volunteer. Recognizing the lack of resources to provide the residents a sense of self-worth and activities, I plan on reorganizing the arrangement of the home's system for the residents, as well as assist writing grants.
- Annually volunteer my city's cultural festival as the youth coordinator.
-Invested over 350 hours volunteering through clubs, organizations and out of my own time.
- IRC--I'm a refugee family mentor, as well as educating adults about our government and civic engagement.
- I do Fall and Spring food runs with a non-profit organization to my native reservation

Writing:
- Op-eds have been published in local, state and national newspapers.
-Won various essay contests
- I edit and sometimes translate proposed micro-loans for Kiva

Summer plans:
- Georgetown Summer Journalism Institute
- Internship
-Service Trip
-???

My next year activities will be relatively the same as my current ones, but with more positions representing leadership.

What are some weaknesses? What should I improve on during my junior year? Will I at all have a shot at one of the colleges I'm interested in?

Thank you guys so much! I definitely appreciate it!

Are you a girl or a guy? Some private schools will differentiate so that might affect your chances. You’re GPA will definitely hurt you, sorry to say. Your SAT and ACT scores are tremendous. Your EC are also extremely good. AP tests seem to be a joke for you too. Being Native American will definitely help you. I put Yale, NYU, and Dartmouth all as reaches due to low GPA. Not familiar with other schools. Sorry

I apologize! I’m a girl! Yes, my GPA is absolutely discouraging. I’m taking online classes (at an honors level) that meet my graduation requirements, as well as boosting my GPA. However I realistically don’t expect a stellar 3.8.

NYU: High match
Dartmouth: Reach
GWU: Match
Yale: Reach
Georgetown: Reach
Barnard: High match

Do you mean Paris IV when you say Sorbonne? Selectivity information is known to be more secretive at French Us than at American Us.

What’s your backup plan, U-Utah?

Yes. I intend on attending U of Utah for about two years, then transferring to another college. I’m just holding my breath I at least get in into one of my dream colleges.
