Chance me, if you will.

Hello there everyone;

I'm a Senior who goes to school in Illinois. I was wondering if someone could chance me for UIUC LAS (I will either major in Econ or Philosophy, or maybe a just a minor in Philosophy). I may or may not apply Undecided depending on what people suggest I do.

In-State Application

ACT - 27 (29 E/ 22M/ 32R/ 24S)
SAT - 1760

I have strong ECs, including the following -

3 Years of Model U.N.
Mock Trial Club
Muslim Student Association
Scholastic Bowl
Tennis
Speech/Debate

GPA - 3.79

A.P. Classes

AP World History, AP U.S. History, AP Environmental Sci, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Econ, AP Stats, AP Bio

I have a great teacher recommendation and one from my counselor as well.

Apply to your program of choice. You will automatically be considered for DGS (undecided) if you are not admitted to your first choice. Applying during the Priority Admissions period (by November 1st all materials must be received) is best. Your ACT is, albeit barely, within the mid 50% range of those admitted to LAS. Some are admitted above, and some below.

Your GPA is fine, and it looks like you have taken some rigorous classes. You don’t mention whether your stated GPA is weighted or not. You also don’t mention your class rank. Recommendations are not required, will not be added to your file, and may slow the processing of your application if you send them.

Without your class rank, and a clarification of your GPA (weighted or unweighted), it’s difficult to give an accurate opinion. But that’s all we can do here on CC. The only way you’ll know for sure is to apply. I encourage you to do that.

As of right now I am not certain whether the GPA I listed is unweighted of weighted. I will have to ask my counselor and get back to you on that.

As for my class rank, my high school does not rank the students that attend. I’d imagine I’m somewhere in the Top 25% however.

Thanks for your input by the way, it is much appreciated.

Having just said this, I was looking for 4 yr grad rate on their site and only found 6 yr grad rate. :(
