I've taken the highest classes (APs and Honors) avaliable. I know my GPA is really really low and makes this difficult but that's why I'm asking here :)

AP scores: Euro-3, Us-3, Lang-4
enrolled in AP Lit for senior year, and considering AP Spanish as well if that can help boost my gpa at all (though it's probably too late for that by now)

SAT I: 1410/2140 670CR/740M/730W
SAT II: taking Math II, Lit, US history in October
ACT: haven't taken it yet but may because my SAT score seems alot lower without the writing included
PSAT: 209 (NM commended)

no class ranking

I could probably ask for a rec letter from my employers here and get a decent one
but i dont even think Syracuse asks for outside letters so w.e :P

what do you think my chances are for applying ED and RD
please and thank you :)<33

^Maybe a matter of natural smarts but low work ethic? Just my guess.

So as IlluSU have already said, your SATs are solid and GPA is very low. The average GPA for incoming freshmen at SU is a 3.6. Just something you might want to think about. Your ECs are a little above average. Your volunteer work in India should be a plus. In relation to your issue on recommendations, I personally sent in an extra letter of recommendation from my supervisor at an internship and was admitted. I would say if your employer can shed you in another light and let the University see another side of you then you should go for it. What I always recommend prospects is to call up admissions and make sure it’s okay to send an extra letter of recommendation–just to be on the safe side. Good luck.

Yeah, my GPA really tanked 2nd semester junior year, just got caught up with family stuff and poor decisions and i realize it makes applying that much more difficult but why not try i guess.
Would you think I’d be a low-mid reach if I did Early Decision?

and thanks House for that info I figured it could be helpful in someway or another haha
another question for you; Did you just ask your supervsor for a college rec letter or was there some kind of template you gave him? (I’m thinking like a copy of the Common App one)

Nope. No template at all for the extra rec. Remember, the commonapp template will ask questions only a school official can answer. Not a supervisor. Just make sure he indicates your name and social security on the letter somewhere so the University knows it’s you.

I don’t categorize people based on whether their desired college would be a match, reach or safety. Admissions to these schools can be really unpredictable and sometimes those who you think would get in end up not getting in at all and vice versa.
