Hi so I would like to know if Northeastern would be a secure enough safety for me or if I should apply to another like Udel or Rutgers.

SAT Composite: 2000
CR: 660
M: 700
W: 640

GPA: 4.6 weighted (also top 10% of my class)

APs
Junior Year: AP Calc AB (4), AP Lang (3), AP U.S. History (5)
Senior Year: AP Calc BC, AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Chem

ECs: Varsity Cross Country (4 years), Varsity Indoor Track (4 years), Varsity Outdoor Track (4 years), Marching Band (4 years + section leader), Piano (12 years at a conservatory), Volunteering at the hospital (200+ hours), National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Music Honor Society

Other info: white female from a large-ish public school

I'm also applying to Boston College, Cornell, Colby College, Lehigh, William & Mary, and University of Chicago so if you can chance me for any of these too that would be amazing.

Boston College Low Reach (Improve sat by atleast 150 points for a competitive stand)
Cornell Reach (SAT, if you can please go for it!!)
University of Chicago Reach (Same as above)
Northeastern Match

Cant say much about LACs

can you show some leadership roles?? include some safeties…

i would add a lesser tier school to ur list like Udel or Rutgers, although you would probably get into northeastern, if i recall correctly its acceptance rate is sub 40% and its hard to call any school with an acceptance rate that low a safety.

I think you’ll have a good chance! You have pretty good test scores and grades. Also, your grades are pretty good! Chicago may be a reach, but if you have a good essay you probably have a chance there. Northeastern you’ll probably for sure though.

Your ECs are superb and I think you can get in to Northwestern!
Maybe just raise your SAT to 2100 if you can.
I know a friend who got into Rutgers with like an 1800 and his only APs were physics, calc, and bio. I think he was like Key Club treasurer but that was it. Your stats beat his by far!

You’ll very probably get into Northeastern, but it’s not quite a safety.
UChicago - High reach
Cornell - Mid\High reach
BC, William and Mary, and Colby - Match
Lehigh - Low match

Yeah I’d say your SAT’s leave a tiny bit to be desired for schools like Cornell/UChicago, and I’m from VA so I have witnessed the crapshoot that is W&M admissions. It’s hard to predict who will get in there. I’d add just 1 lower teir school, because i think you have a really good shot at everything but Boston, Cornell and U Chicago. Your EC’s are great though so we’ll see!

I agree with the others. I think you’ll probably get into Northeastern, but there’s no harm in throwing in another app because of the lowish SAT score. You’ll most likely get into at least one of the schools on your list but better safe than sorry!

Thanks everyonee. I wish I could’ve raised my score more but I’ve already taken it three times and the last time I took it I went down so my confidence is kind of low. I just hope some of the schools can look past my SAT score and look more at the other aspects of my application:/

If you write really good essays, you’ll have a fair chance at UChi (might still be a reach though). Have you considered a few more safety schools? It’s a good idea for every applicant to have two or three, at least.

And don’t worry too much about your SATs; colleges look at your application holistically and prioritize your grades/ECs above the SAT. As a UChi admissions officer told me, “Good students have bad Saturdays.”
