Chance Me -- I'll Chance Back!

Hello all! It has always been my dream to attend SFS Georgetown. I'd love to major in either Political Economy, Economics, Poly Sci, or some other related major. History and everything else related has always been a passion of mine.

Dream Schools: SFS Georgetown, UChicago, Duke, Princeton, Yale, Cornell ILR
Where else I'm thinking of applying: UC Berkeley; UNC Chapel Hill; Michigan Ross; Brown; Northwestern; Rutgers; George Washington Eliot School; Maryland College Park; NYU Stern; UVA; William and Mary; Williams; and Swarthmore

Other info:
I am a white, Jewish male (so no hooks really)
I also have legacy at Harvard, Michigan, UPenn, Princeton (Uncle went there - does that count and is on the board of one of the Eating Clubs), and NYU
I attend a highly competitive public high school in NJ (5-15 per year usually attend Ivies, and many more other top-tier colleges)

ahhhh we have similar dream schools! I’m gunning for UChicago and Duke also!

It looks like you have a solid chance at UChicago, Georgetown, Duke, and Cornell if you rock those essays (especially UChicago) for your dream schools. I think for the other schools you’re applying to, you have a good chance as well. At this point, it’s probably the essays that will distinguish you as a solid candidate because your stats are good, but not AMAZING, so you’ll need to shine and stand out.

We’re applying to similar colleges, so good luck to you!!

also, try trimming the list because that’ll be a lot of applications to do. take out some safeties and you’re good. I didn’t see the legacies either - i have no idea how much influence that will have on the admissions decision, but it’ll at least have a little bump in your application, so yay!

Thanks for the advice, and will do!

SFS Gtown- High Match
UChicago - Reach
Duke - Reach
Princeton - Reach
Yale - Reach
Cornell ILR - Low Reach
UC Berkeley - Match
UNC Chapel Hill - Low Match
Michigan Ross - In
Brown - Reach
Northwestern- Reach
Rutgers - In
George Washington Eliot School - In
Maryland College Park - In
NYU Stern - Match
UVA - Low Match
William and Mary - In
Williams - Low Reach
Swarthmore - Low Reach

I think you should definitely be able to get into Georgetown, but the ivies will still be a reach (as they are for anyone). The non-ivy schools you will most likely get into most or all of them.

Concerning the top schools you’re applying to, I don’t think your awards are strong enough (outside of some MUN). Also your math II grade is quite low, getting 770+ would help your chances.

For your essays, make sure to convey your passion in history and make sure your teachers and your counselor know.

Chance me back?

Stats are fine in my opinion. I think you’ll get into UChicago, but in order to get into Duke, Brown, Berkeley, Chapel Hill you’ll just really need to do well on your essays. Maybe talk about how you were the youngest intern in that one place’s history. Start the essays soon and do well on them so you can have a pick of colleges. The Model UN at Georgetown looks great. Based off of stats and ECs, I’d say you could get in there.
