Chance Me (I'll Chance Back)

Hi guys I’m a junior right now and I’m setting my sights on some of the Ivies and hoping I can get in. My number one goal is Princeton and I’m planning on applying early action. My second choice is Columbia and third is Upenn. I know these schools are really hard to get into, but here it goes. I’ll chance back to the best of my ability if you attach your link with your post. Thanks!

Junior year: IB Bio HL, IB Physics HL, IB English HL, IB History SL, IB Spanish SL, IB Math SL, Advanced Experimental Design (Elective)

Senior year: Planning to take the second year of the above courses (History replaced with a Theory of Knowledge Course, and Spanish becoming AP Spanish)

Current unweighted GPA: 96.50 out of 100
Rank: School does not rank

Sat I: 2800 (740 CR 800 M 740 W) Superscore: 2300 (with a 760 W)
Sat II: Have not taken yet but envision taking Bio and Math 2 (Probably high 700s)
ACT: Will take in a month but predicting 35 composite

ECs:
Captain of Club Epee Team at Nationals (Unranked right now but envision at least an E and maybe a D by application time)

Teacher at local mosque for Sunday Islamic School (200 hours)

Race/Ethnicity: Asian (Pakistani)

Honest Opinions please! And if you could explain your reasoning that would help. Thanks!

Impressive qualifications, to be sure. However, these colleges receive a number of applications which are similar to the qualifications you have presented. This is not to say that you are not qualified to attend an Ivy League institution. My intention is to be realistic and frank with you. I foresee a 50-50 chance when you send your application to these schools. Good luck!

I think you have a really good shot at all of them based on your stats! upenn and columbia I think you’d have the best shot at just because princetons always a toss up because most of their applicants are very well qualified like you. the best you can do is put yourself in the ballpark for Princeton and you never know! Good luck!

Your academics are good, but your EC’s are nothing special for Ivies. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you get into a few. Which ones is impossible to predict.

You have a good chance, but everything depends on your essay

Thanks to the responses so far guys, and I hope you are right. More responses would be much appreciated. I will chance back!

Your Stats are great, but so are a lot of people’s, so I think it depends a lot on your essays and recommendations, make sure they’re amazing! I think you have a shot at Princeton EA.

Honestly, I don’t think you have a good chance at Princeton. You academics are what they’re looking for, but your ECs are very bland; they’ll blend in with the rest of the applicants. And a 35 is quite the prediction!! Hopefully that goes as planned, that would improve your application a bit. Based on what you’ve posted here, I’d say youre more on par with a top 20 school, like UCLA, UCB, Notre Dame, Rice, Vanderbilt, Northwestern etc. You’d have a shot at schools like Cornell, Brown, and maybe Duke or Penn, but I think your chances of HYP are slim. Of course apply to them, but keep in mind, these schools are hyper-selective. Good luck.

you have amazing grades and while your ecs are standard, therefore, all of these seem to be match to high match for you

Princeton is your biggest reach for sure. I imagine your best chances are with UPENN. I recommend considering Brown to your list because they tend to look very favorably on ECs

Princeton:High Reach

You are likely to get into UPenn if you keep it up though

@billcsho @finallyfree lmao you guys gave me a good laugh. Whoops on the typo and thanks to everyone for the responses. I’m about to chance back and more responses would be appreciated.

Princeton:High Reach
Columbia:Low Reach
UPenn :High Reach

You are have good qualifications and I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere good. If not Princeton, Columbia, or Upenn, I’m sure you can get into Cornell or Brown. Also look other prestigious colleges like Wake Forest, Williams, or Harvey Mudd. They would be good backups in case you don’t get in. Though I do think you can get in given your grades and test scores. Your ECs are good but nothing memorable, I’m sure many other applicants have ECs similar to yours. But still I think you’re in.

They are all high matches to me. You sound like a great candidate however if there were more out-of-school activities that you did, that would help a whole lot more. Good luck!

I hope you guys are right about your predictions! Thanks for the responses, and I would appreciate more feedback!

bump

I’d say you’re a competitive candidate anywhere. However, what do you think sets you apart from the crowd? I’d say you get into 50+% of the schools you apply to.
