Chance Me, I'll Chance Back :)

Chances for UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, & USC based on these stats:

-CA Resident
-Intended Major: Biology
-4.74 UC GPA (uncapped), 4.0 UC GPA (unweighted)
-32 ACT
-700 Ecological Biology SAT II
-Solid ECs with 3 leadership positions
-180+ hours of volunteering at my local church
-Summer job at my uncle’s clothing company

I’ve also already been accepted to UC Irvine (CHP).

You could be accepted into these schools, especially because you’re in-state, but for the more competitive UCs could be a reach for you because of your lack of ECs. If it isn’t too late, I’d try to cram in as much ECs as you can, but make sure they interest you!!

Chance back please!

lack of ECs? I’m a founder of one club, president of another, and secretary in yet another club. I’ve also been in my school’s aquatics program for 3 years. @EhtEhtEht

You look like a competitive applicant and have a good chance at the schools on your list.

Well you were extremely vague in your post, and what I meant is that since you are pursuing a career in biology, you should focus a lot more on biology related ECs to show that you are interested in that major. There’s nothing wrong with 3 clubs, but if you want to demonstrate your zeal, you should consider a bit more. You’re pretty set though.

UCLA/SD/USC - Match, based on your high GPA and good test scores alone. SD may even be a safety.

Berkeley - High match, your GPA helps you, your test scores don’t really help or hurt you (but if anything they help), but, you didn’t really list out your ECs but they seem pretty adequate. With all this said, Berkeley is Berkeley (very competitive).

Good luck! I think you have a solid shot at all the schools you have listed above, and congrats on your acceptance to the UCI CHP, that’s a good sign!

What is the strength of the school you go to? Remember, colleges look at you in context …

Above average public school I suppose @yummyGumballs

UCB/UCLA-high match/ low reach
-bio is a competitive field, but your gpa is great. did you take ap bio?
-test scores are a bit low, but still good. Thats why its still a high match/low reach bc they’re dfficult.

UCSD-low match based on gpa alone.

USC-not sure, but Im guessing theyre like ucla? they like community involvement so youre good

overall you have an excellent chance, if your essays reflected your high school performance.

I think that you have a good shot at all the places. San Diego, UCLA seem like matches. Berkeley might go either ways, but I think that you stand a good shot. I dont know much about USC, sorry.

I think you have a really good chance for both. Your leadership positions and your service hours could definitely make you stand out big time. :-bd

Your scores and GPA are solid along with your ECs for the UCs. If possible, try to bump up that GPA a little. Make sure your schedule has plenty of AP/IB and honors courses. It certainly helps that you’re a CA resident. Good luck!

you have a solid chance, your leadership positions and your service hours do not make you stand out, I dont know wat lilpup is talking about lol… but your grades are good and your ACT is decent—write good essays, etc and you should get in

GPA is going to help you a lot at all of the schools. Berkeley is Berkeley, you’re within the range that gets accepted––if you don’t it’s not because of something that you did. Otherwise you should have a great shot at the rest of the schools! Best of luck with it all

OP I would say you have a good shot at UCLA, and UCSD due to your high GPA and the fact that you’re instate for them and I think you have a good shot at USC though bland Ec’s might hurt you there. UCB even instate will be tough obviously you’re GPA is stellar and ACT score won’t harm you but if it comes to ECs then you might be in trouble. If I had to guess I’d say you’ll get in but it really could go either way. Best of luck!
