Chance me? I'll chance back!

I go to a public school in Arizona
GPA(UW): F-3.0 Soph-3.1 J-4.0 S-4.0 (out of 4.0)
GPA(W): 4.4 out of 5 I think
SAT I: 1390/2090
SAT II: USH: 760, Math 2: 800, Physics: 720
I've taken 10 AP's and got 3+ on all except World.
My Senior Schedule was:
AP English
AP Bio
AP Calculus BC
AP Government
AP Psychology
Art I

My EC's suck, basically just a few clubs.

Confident in my Rec's and Essays.

I'm Hispanic and first gen so I got that working for me right? haha

Will be double majoring in math/philosophy. I'm majoring in math because I want to go into graduate school for either some kind of physics or engineering and figured it would leave me open to both.

Schools I was looking at:
William and Mary (Fat chance I know lol)
Kenyon College
Reed
Trinity College (CT)
U Wisconsin - Madison
U Mich
U Illinois - Urbana
U NC Chapel Hill
U Minnesota- Twin Cities
NYU
U Arizona
UCB
UCLA
and I'll be applying to Princeton and hope I win the lottery lol!

Pretty diverse list I know. So what do you guys think my chances are for these colleges? (except for princeton I already know thats extremely unlikely, if not impossible)

Bump 10char

bump …

Come on, anyone?

Well first of all let me say that I know Princeton is your reach but I’m sort of gearing my advice towards it because it’s the school I’m most familiar with but I figure you pros and cons will apply to all schools. Well if you have time I would most definitely get your SAT scores up…only 6.2% of student with your SAT score are admitted to Princeton. The Hispanic thing does help but I have heard (not sure on this though) that URM status is most important when accompanied by a low income. Oh wow, I just saw your first-gen status. URM + First Gen helps you considerably!! Your extensive AP tests sound good but you might want give more specific scores because 3 is sort of bad, whereas if you have mostly 4s and 5s you’ll be in good shape. So I’d say your biggest problem is your SAT Score and your ECs… There’s nothing you are passionate about? I read of someone who put “Playing Dominoes” as one of his ECs. Although it wasn’t an official club he was passionate about it and felt that it was something that deserved to go on his app…and he was accepted. So if you find something like that it may help. Hope that helps!!!

Chance me back? Thanks

I think if you could sell yourself well enough in essays, you even have a shot at schools like Columbia, given your SATs (I have a hispanic friend that got in with lower scores) and URM status.

ok so heres my AP scores, senior year is projected:
Sophomore:
World History- 1 (didn’t really care about it, major **** up… But nothing I can do about it now)

Junior:
Stats- 5
English- 3
Physics B - 5
APUSH- 4
Euro H- 4

Senior:
Calculus BC - Will for sure get 5
English Lit- Shooting for 4
Bio- 4/maybe 5
Government- 4
Psychology- 5
Still debating whether or not I’m going to self study for Environmental. If I decide to, I will definitely get a 5.

Wow, so you guys think I might have a shot at Ivys? I will be retaking the SAT my second and final time in October of this year, I’ve been studying and I think it’s reasonable to assume a 100+ point increase. It looks like my UW GPA will be the thing holding me back, it’s about 3.5. As for my EC’s the clubs I am/was in are German Club, Chess Club, Math Club. I enjoy reading and I do it a lot. I read everything: poetry, plays, science/math books, philosophy, classics, literature, science fiction. Can I put reading as an EC? Also I do occasionally write poetry and short stories, nothing published or anything like that. Although I suppose I have my first half of Senior year to get a work published in a magazine or something. I really like thinking too, that’s probably why I want to major in Philosophy/Math. Not really an EC though… This is kinda depressing theres nothing I"m really passionate about…

Heres an updated list of my colleges of interest:
Grinnell ( My top choice for now )
Kenyon College
Reed
Trinity College (CT)
Malcaster College
Bard College
U Wisconsin - Madison
U Mich
U Illinois - Urbana
U NC Chapel Hill
U Minnesota- Twin Cities
UVA
NYU
and my big reaches- Cornell, Princeton

^ Aren’t your junior year AP scores projected as well? The ones from this year don’t come out until the 3rd week of July.

That more than anything else that you’ve mentioned is what doesn’t sound good. If you’re aiming for Ivies or other top-tier schools, you need to demonstrate passion in your ECs (or if you don’t have any passion for what you do, at least try to get leadership positions in what you’re involved in to pretend you do).
Your UW GPA and SATs are low for the aforementioned schools, even when your URM status (and the subsequent boost you will probably receive) is factored in.
I don’t know enough about the rest of the colleges you mentioned to chance you for them, sorry.
