Hey guys.
I'm a ninth grader and I scored badly on the ssat. My score was only about 1800.
well these are the activities that i do:

community service and clubs:
operation smile
Global warming club
Sparrow home, where we visit kids whose parents are in jail
street boys, they bring kids to our school to play and we take care of them
shooting hoops - find sponsors and donate the money to orphanage groups
new peers - take care of new students

instruments:
piano for eight years
violin for four years

sports:
basketball for five years
swimming for two years
(competitive team sports by the way)

the point is, do you guys think i'm going to make it in to NMH, Mercersburg Academy, Tabor Academy and Loomis Chaffee?

please be honest! thank you

what are your grades and whats 1800 as a percentile?

rad, it’s pretty bad. I believe it is in the 30s range? Correct me if I’m wrong. However, you still have a decent chance if you retake it.

oh ehwwwww * <- lucy sound* thats… i think you should DEFINITELY retake it

its horrible… and yes it’s arround there jasony.
well during the test, I didn’t have my full attention. thats why it was like that :frowning:
and yes, i’m planning to take it again on january!
i’m not sending the 1800 one to the school though :</p>

my grades are on my transcript which i don’t have right now…

The SSATs need work… hopefully the retake will be better! : )
Your clubs and sports look good… how are the teacher recs and interviews?

You’re EC’s and everything is good, but you’re SSATs will definitely hurt you, have you considered retaking?

I think everything is good  remember that the SSAT’s are only one part of your application and if they dont match your grades ( bad SSAT’s but good grades) they will understand

GOOD LUCK :D

I disagree ducky, an 1800 is pretty low and I think would definetly count against her… Its one this to get a 70s and another to score so low (I looked it up in PR and it was about a 20th overall). I hate to be harsh :frowning: but you did say to be honest. You were probably just having a bad day though, retake if you can. I wish you the best of luck!

ooooo i didn’t know what the score was i thought it was 70-75, maybe you should think about retaking and you probably had a bad day, that has happened to me on the practice I got a 71 (bad day) on real one 93 (!) (really good day :D) try again and you will do better

don’t stress before the test because that hurts your grades, I stressed before the practice and i was stressing but before the real one i was weirdly relaxed and I did well  so try again and don’t stress its better not to

GOOD LUCK :D

yeah, I scored in the 80s on all my practices because I stressed and then on the real deal I did so much better. Its luck on the day to an extent.

hehe on the practice i got like a 57 lol
on real i got 86 buts thts only 'cause i did absolutely horrendous on math otherwise it would’ve been around a 95.

keep trying!

hey thanks for the support guys
and i’m wondering if we need to send the community service hours to the school if i’m a highschooler

your ssat score could change, however, ecs and interview couldn’t.so you definetly still have a decent chance if you could get at least 80% in the next ssat.
GOOD LUCK!

Scores aren’t everything, however, at the schools we looked at, including some on your list, we were told that they see a score of 2000 as the minimum indicator that a student is capable of doing the work at that school.
But again, scores are only one piece of the overall picture.

Good luck.
