Decent personal statements for all (though some say they’re amazing)
Colleges for consideration - UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, USC, Michigan Ann Arbor and Wisconsin Madison
Please chance me (I’ll chance you back if you want). Be frank. Thank you loads
Good ECs and TOEFL is good, good GPA, the only thing I see lacking is the ACT for upper echelon schools.
UMich- reach
USC- low reach
UCLA- reach
UCSD- low reach
UCSB- low reach/high match
UCB- reach
Wisc- match
Honestly you have a great chance for all! Berkeley might be a low rich and Michigan a high match but I think that you will get into all of these schools. Good luck!
Take a look at my thread if you can please
@Hertzog But 30 isn’t as bad a score, is it? It falls between all these colleges’ 25th and 75th percentile scores.
Could that really make or break me?
@ptkid16 Thank you so much I hope I do get into them, Berkeley, LA and Michigan are my dream schools
No, a 30 is a very competitive score, it’s just that they will be judging you harder based on the fact that you are an international student, I assumed that anyway from the fact that you took the TOEFL. If that is not the case, I would say that you stand a better chance. Also it wouldn’t “break you” but it does make it considerably more difficult at some of these schools. They still wouldn’t be impossible and you stand a valid chance. Good luck!
@Hertzog Yeah even though I’d taken the GCSEs, I supposedly had to appear for the TOEFL for the UCs! My only concerns are Berkeley, LA and Michigan Ann Arbor, all those are really competitive. I’ve seen amazing top notch students getting rejected there. Scares me.
Good statistics overall.
You have a really strong list of awards and ECs.
You are a high candidate for most of those schools. UCB, UCLA, and Mich might be harder schools to get into, but you have a shot
i think you have a very high gpa and excellent ec, but you act score is probably what makes you less competitive now. is 30, your first act score? if yes, i think you should retake it and give it another shot.
@cylaok yeah that’s my first ACT score but I don’t have any time to retake it, I’ve applied everywhere and the decisions are due next month. I’m just scared about the score coming in the way of my decisions.
I’ll only chance on the ones I’m familiar with. Overall, your EC’s are amazing, but I think your ACT is on the low side and maybe I missed it but what’s your UC GPA? I saw 3.93 but not sure if this is uw/w, either way that should be good. I would say:
UMich: reach
USC: low reach
UB: reach (hardest one out of these IMO)
UCLA: reach
Chance back??
