augustagurrl, With 90% accuracy I can say that you will get into Dartmouth. It’s a numbers game and your stats are very respectable. BTW, where else are you applying? I would say that you have a good shot at all of the Ivies.

Chance me back?

Just a glance(I’m too lazy to type all that you did)

White Male at upper-middle class, Catholic all boys school(that’s not working for me)

Physics B(4)
Calc AB(3)
US History(5)
Eng lang(4)

Senior year:
Calc BC
Spanish
Eng Lit
US Gov.
Chemistry

I have solid A’s with 1 blemish(AP Bio=2 semester of B+s)
1st semester this year should be all As except for a B or B+ in Calc BC

EC:
Soccer(captain, 3 yrs varsity)
Baseball(2 yrs varsity)
basketball (2yr JV)
indoor track (1 yr Varisty)

Boy Scouts(Eagle Scout, many leadership pos.), lots of community service, Academic Competition Team (capt.), Mock Trial, Pro-life club(VP), and a few other activities that have less involvement than these mentioned.

I am also the founder of my school’s Ping Pong Club which is in the process of getting started

What’s your opinion from what I’ve given you?

i say you have a solid shot from what i see
interesting ECs - especially the ping pong club
the only thing is the SAT II bio.
you only have to send 2 to dartmouth, so i would send your two highest.

your stats look awesome. good luck :D!!!

im applying to 14 schools across the board. 5 ivies, MIT, caltech, JHU, Emory, Duke, Vandy, 2 safeties (rollins college and accepted to co school of mines) and stanford.

Thanks for chancing me. Good luck with your schools!

I think you look really really good. The only thing is that you have more 4s than 5s on APs but I really don’t think that matters too much. You show a lot of incentive by making your own schedule really difficult. I think you have great chances!

Really good chance like I’d say 50% chance of getting in. I’m applying too. Best of luck to us both =D

Augusta, I think you’re in! (I don’t know much about college admissions, considering that I’m not even in college yet, but you’re a sound applicant!)

I’m required to take theology, too! :)

thank you- i’m sure hoping dartmouth accepts me!! :)

you look like you’re in good shape for getting admitted. Thanks for responding to my post.

thank you!!

I believe you’ll get in your stats are very good.
A few more APs would have been nicer though.

thanks
well the only other APs at my school that i haven’t taken are AP Bio (didn’t fit into my schedule), AP Chem (which i couldn’t take as chem is a prereq and i just finished that class) and two AP languages, whereas I took french so that wouldn’t have worked.
i hope they see that and consider that i took the hardest stuff my school offered…

i think you’re in too. but you can really never know with the ivies.

I’d give agusta a solid chance because she’s from Nebraska. From NY, NJ,CA, MA, ect. she’d have a much harder times.

Folks are chancing here without enough info.

The student with the 1440? Maybe if he’s low income, first gen, from an underrepresented state or has another tip factor.

im not from nebraska…
just curious- why does everyone think im from NE?

oohh because of the french thing.
no that was just through them im not sure how but they were able to do it.
they sent me the books and i submitted my 10 (brutal) tests online

im actually from FL :)

anyone else? chances?

Found out today:

UW GPA: 3.97
-not sure how this is possible, as they calculate it based on semester grades and i have straight As/A+s but whatever.

W GPA: 4.39
-still first in my class :)

Could you “chance” me please? I really don’t want to write this, but, hey… I couldn’t resist. :D

I don’t have much time to write this post, and I’m only a first semester sophomore. With regards to EC, do I have a decent chance?

Momentarily, disregard the SAT. I haven’t taken it yet. Prior tests indicate I’ll get around a 33-34 on the ACT, and a 2300 on the SAT.

My weighted GPA is 4.58 (max at my school). Unweighted, it is 4.00 (straight As/A+'s). I go to a private Christian School in California. I am rank 1 out of 85 (technically 1 out of 350 if you’re counting the whole school… shockingly small class this year…).

I’m going to be taking as many AP’s and Honors classes as possible (just as I currently am doing so).

I’m of mixed race. I’m half Irish, and half Chinese (Corn beef and chow mien, anyone?). They were both immigrants.

I am going to be the chief editor for the Yearbook (probably the most award winningest in the nation - it’s not just me, but its the whole yearbook as a team, so I’m not bragging here. ).

I am soon to be an eagle scout. I am on the Senior Patrol, and will probably be the Senior Patrol Leader next year. I was patrol leader, and under my leadership, my patrol was victorious and won the regional competition.

I currently have 200+ hours of community service, but my goal is 1000+ (not just for college, but for my thankfulness to God for blessing me with such a good life. I just want to make others happier. This CS isn’t self centered. ).

I have won awards for the mock trial team, and I hope to be the team captain next year.

I am a concert pianist. I have made my own CD. I am the youngest official church pianist in the region. I play for the elderly many times.I’m also going to be the pianist for the Honors Choir next year.

I am going to be on the Varsity Volleyball team in Spring. I hope to be captain next year.

I currently have a job as a Real Estate Advertisement Creator/Designer for a local real estate company. I may be getting a job at a Mercedes Benz dealer.

I was on Jeopardy for Kids in 2005. I served as the only alternate player in the nation.

So. I probably have more, and I have time to do more things. Do I have a decent chance (as in >50%)?

On a side note, is Dartmouth relatively conservative? Are there a lot of Christians at Dartmouth? I heard from some that a few Harvard professors require students to express their religious beliefs, and will flunk students that proclaim Christianity. From others (at the campus, actually) that there is no persecution at all. Is this true at Dartmouth (or Harvard, for that matter)?

I was just curious, because I saw a lot of you guys are from Catholic schools, so it gave me hope. I mean, I love all people and embrace people of all faiths, but I don’t want to be tormented or treated unfairly because of my faith. Being flunked because of faith? That’s $50,000 well spent. ;)

Thanks again! I will post extra EC’s when they come to mind. Again, I am a first semester sophomore.

PS. To the person who said CA has high scores and standards, that actually is untrue. I found out that actually, California is one of the lowest ranking states, mainly because many students here JUST. DON’T. CARE.

^ Actually, CA does have high scores. Just ask students from the SF Bay Area/Silicon Valley, perhaps one of the most highly educated areas in the United States.

Hey, I checked as you said from my Academic Advisor. The top 5 scoring counties in CA are (in order) Orange County, San Diego county, Stanislaus County, Santa Barbara county, then (strangely) Inyo County. I went up to San Francisco, and the students there actually aren’t very educated (as far as the students I met). In general, they seemed to be rather arrogant, but not necessarily recipients of a superior education.

If you check the cut-off scores for PSAT scores in CA, its just about average. If I recall correctly, its on par with Texas…

Anyway, can someone chance me?
