How competitive is your suburban high school? For example, what is the average SAT score? How many National Merit Finalists/ commended each year at your school?

How did you fair on the National Merit Exam.?

Have you taken AP Calculus and AP Computer Science?

The average ACT score is about a 26 and SAT around 1700. And we had about 45-50 National merit semi-finalists. I personally didn’t do too well (I got a 200), but that’s why I took the ACT

You seem to be applying to schools with the best business programs. Most of them, probably would want to see good scores on AP CalculusBC, Computer Science and Statistics. Also, some management/ business experience. Do you play any sports? For Mccombs I believe one needs to be in the top 3%. So, it is not an auto. admit. At everything but Wharton you have a fair shot, but none are a slam dunk. A lot depends on the courses you are taking this year and next and how you do on them.

I’ll be taking AP Calculus BC next year as a senior, though I have no intention of taking AP computer science. Do those courses really play that big of a role in admission to business schools?

And my intended major is either finance or accounting

you have to realize that investment banks that hire out of Wharton will usually put you to work as an analyst for a couple of year, crunching numbers on computers and generate all kinds of data analysis and reports. You will basically be doing the grunt work for senior management (that wants to spend it’s time hob knobbing on the golf course and yachts with their clients). So, unless you have Warren Buffet in your back pocket these are the skills you will need.
