No legacy
The interviewer said he would cross his fingers for me...

I'm nothing particularly spectacular, but I am a girl applying for engineering, which might help. I just have no idea what to expect and the more I read about Princeton the more I love it, and the more I start flipping out!

unfortunately, i don't think your odds are that good. your grades are great, scores won't hurt you, but you have nothing that really makes you stand out over the other 2270-saludictorians applying. but hey, stranger things have happened.

best of luck, and I hope you prove me wrong!

i think you shouldnt have posted this until this weekend; im sure you will be flipping out even more then.

I knew I should have started an orphanage in Africa in my free time if I wanted to get into a school like Princeton...

just one? you'd be lucky to end up on the waitlist. :P

Don't feel bad flippinout. There's actually only been six orphanages founded in Africa for the express purpose of getting in to Princeton this year, compared to twelve last year. So your odds a bit better. ;)

lol. This thread will only freak you out more. I know it's near impossible (and that I'm a hypocrite) but try to relax! Absolutely nothing you do now can make a difference, so just sit tight. Good luck!

nuh uh. you could...save the president's life, then call dean of admissions at home to tell her about it.

better yet, save the dean of admissions' life.

You seem to come up with great ideas acadec! :D To the OP, you stand as good a chance as everyone else... Try to relax, there is nothing we can do now... All the best!!

I say you have a pretty good shot especially if you are a girl applying for engineering pton needs more female engineering

all this speculation is like torture!

i can't wait to find out

my friend actually founded a school for impoverished youth in rural india over the past few years....no joke

she was deferred EA from yale though regardless

^ wow.forrealzzz?

looking from what you have written - and compared to all the other chance threads- ur stats aren't amazing.

but since stats aren't everything - you still have lotsa chance!

just a few more days :D i'll pray for you

goodluck.

+
oh and how qualified is that #1? are you guys involved in the same activities?

There's actually another kid in my school who built a school in Uganda... don't worry, he's applying to Harvard.

The number one kid in my class has lower SAT scores than me and he is an nonathletic Asian male, but that is about all that he has against him. I think he might have cured AIDS...?

But whatever, I have reconsidered things and I am not feeling so good about my chances. Mostly right now I can just hope and regret that the hard colleges I picked to apply to were way too hard, and the safeties were way too safe so now I have no idea where I'm going to end up. This whole thing is terrifying, maybe I'll get to Princeton for grad school or something... that might be more worthwhile anyway.

the advantage of princeton is an emphasis on undergrad. go someplace else for grad school.

Just as good as a chance as the standard applicant. Being a female interested in engineering will definitely help you though.

I can also ride a unicycle... I forget if I told them that.

That's a pretty critical achievement.

http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2007/12/07/news/19637.shtml

I've heard this a lot on this forum, but does being a female applicant for engineering really help anyone?

^ Lol at the unicycle comment.
