Chance me? I'm nice I promise :)

Haha okay well besides the creepy title id like to see youre guys's input here.

GPA: 3.71
Weighted i'd probably be up around a 3.85-3.9 ish
Many honors classes.
Already have UW credit with a german college in the highschool program
LW Tech credit for C#(computer science) college in the highschool program
Just one AP this senior year. (Government)

ACT:Composite 24..... Math 25.....English 24....Reading 22....Science 26.....Writing 10 (do they even look at that?)
Took it twice, same composite on both. (I know this is what's hindering me most here)

Ive had soo many personal family hardships it's insane so that has given me strong essay topics, and i feel my essays are exceptional compared to the majority applying.

EC's id say are just above average. I got work experience in there, academic excellence awards, varsity football, lots of community service at the hospital, school senate(student governemnt), etc.

Thanks guys.

Hello, Jake!

Hahahah hey Matt?

Low reach for UW. Your ACT is 25th percentile of admitted UW students. Your essays can really help you here, and, as you said, they are strong. But how would you know your essays are better than those applying? Have you read the other thousands of essays? I wouldn’t be surprised if you were admitted, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if you were rejected. So 50/50.

Well no of course i havent read all of them. But i have read many of my classmates and ive had lots of input including many teachers on my essays, and i know that there isnt a very big majority of kids that can write about what i wrote about, thus making them stand out. Its tough the act just killed me.

I’m not sure that you aught my sarcasm…haha. Anyways, the only thing holding you back is your ACT (and perhaps your GPA, as it is just average for UW).

haha nah i caught it, just saying though. yeah well essays are really important so hey who knows, maybe waitlisted.

You seem sure of your chances already…why post a chances thread?

I like as much input as I can get!

ICanDivideByZero, people post chance threads because they want reassurance on a stressful and hugely significant emotional event in their lives: getting accepted to college.

Just like you did.

Maybe you should give everyone a break and either answer their questions or don’t. No reason to keep asking people why they’re posting chance threads.

Agree with above posts, your ACT would be holding you back here. However, remember that UW admissions look at applications holistically, so they will be taking your essays and extra curriculars in consideration.

Lol baronbvp, I told icandivide the exact same thing about 2 hours before you did. I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling that away about his annoying responses. I honestly think icandivide is just a ■■■■■ trying to **** people off lol!

Thanks, ilikeUW. We’re all here to help or get help. This is a great forum because of the civility exhibited by virtually everyone, and their sometimes-detailed posts that truly help those searching for answers.

Dude, I posted a chance thread that was specific. It is impossible to relate the ones posted here to the one I posted. There is a difference. If you can’t see that, I’m not sure what else to say.

Anyways, I know this person so I was just giving him a hard time. As for the other person (the other thread), he/she stated their chances in the original post. Being cynical, I said why would you ask for your chances when you already know what they are? Yes, people want reassurance (I get that, as I am going through the same process right now). But how would asking equally uninformed high school students (and sometimes parents) about your chances to a university reassure you at all? It won’t reassure someone if they already know their chances. And btw, I did answer this person’s question (see above posts).

You discuss “sometimes-detailed posts that truly help those searching for answers”. The person in the other thread already had the answer and was not searching for it, which is why those threads are so pointless. This thread, on the other hand, is not pointless. He did not have a clear-cut idea of what his chances are and wanted more input to form a solid picture of his chances. I think that is great. More power to you if you want to do that. Doing so is what makes this website so amazing.

I am not a ■■■■■. Reference my previous posts for confirmation. If anyone is exhibiting incivility, it would be ilikeUW (calling someone a ■■■■■ when there is plenty of evidence to the contrary). I hope I was able to successfully inform both of you of my reasons for my cynicism displayed in the other thread.

hahahah yes i do know him. hes smart he’ll get into good schools. guys just relax haha everyones getting a little too excited here. not that big of a deal. i do think that some people are posting chances threads when seriously theyre stupid, and on the contrary people are being a little to holistle. relax guys :)
