To anyone reading this, can you guys please chance me for Rice. It would help me out a lot to know where i stand realistically.

Eek! Your Freshman and Sophmore grades are kinda low. When you apply to Rice, write a short paragraph explaining your low grades. Retake your SAT and shoot for a 2250< (specifically your Reading score, try to get a 730). Your extra-curricular look good. Have you considered getting an internship or job, that would look great on your application. GOOD LUCK!

Thank you for your input! Yeah, Freshman and Sophomore year I had a severe lack of motivation. I will definitely write short paragraphs to each college i apply to explaining those grades. Okay, i will definitely be retaking the SAT then haha. I just got my ACT results and a i made a 32. And i will be working at my dad’s pharmacy this whole summer!

When you do explain your grades from Freshman and Sophomore years, make sure your reasoning is acceptable. Analyze why you had a lack of motivation and if any environmental factors were at play (i.e. family/relationship issues)

Otherwise, good luck! Hope to see you at Rice next year :)

Thank you, love4medicine! I hope I will see you there too. With solid essays and a thorough explanation of why my freshman/sophomore year grades aren’t up to par, could you predict my chances for Rice?

I have read that the last thing adcoms want to read is reasons for poor grades. If there was a life-changing event that impacted your education, your GC can write about it in his/her letter.
