-Probably Good Recommendations and Essays for next year

ACT?
College suggestions?
Other recommendations on increasing my chances? PLEASE

Everything but your SAT CR and W, your Chem SAT2 and your ACT are strong.
If you think you can get a higher ACT (which I suspect you can) or can improve the SAT CR score, you should give that a shot.
But you should definitely apply, irrespective of whether you raise those scores. Write compelling essays and see what happens.
Good luck.

Half of all applicants this past year had a 32 ACT (2130 SAT) or higher. To be competitive, you should raise your scores a bit. But besides that, you look good.

Read this thread on good medical schools^

Consider schools where interviews are important if you think you’d succeed at that (you seem to be really passionate/excited about a lot of things so I’m gonna say that you might be great at it).

A lot of times the best school to go to for pre-med is one where you can get good grades (grade inflation), not necessarily the schools known for the hardest coursework.

Northwestern has a lot of National Merit finalists, which I assume means that they like to have them, not that you’ll have more competition. Since we have similar stats (I have the equivalent of 32 ACT and the exact GPA!) I’ll list the match schools I’m looking into (keep in mind you probably have the better ECs): Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Emory, Tulane, UNC Chapel Hill, Carnegie Mellon, and Northeastern. Also, University of Washington at Seattle is known for their research/med.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. So basically the tests/interviews/essay…I’ll look into more of the pre-med stuff.

Your activities are competitive. Yet, you are an ORM + male, which menas you are playing in a whole different field. Raise your scores ‘significantly’. GL!

^^BelleNiente-
How do Tulane and Northeastern come to be on the same list of supposed “match schools”? Those two are not in the same league, and not remotely as hard to get into (especially Northeastern), as Northwestern, JHU, Emory (or probably Carnegie Mellon or Chapel Hill).

WCASP –

Interesting Question – for my D, we used the following categories.

Reach (most candidates have better stats in some way);
Match High (Statistics match admissions profile, but it’s a numbers game );
Match Mid (Statistics match admissions profile >50% chance, but rejection wouldn’t be a shock)
Match - Low (Statistics significantly better than average in some way, but school produces some squirrely results, so it can’t be considered a safety (75% chance or better)
Safety – If you don’t get in, it’s a problem.

With this system, Tulane can be a Match-Low and Northwestern a Match-High (both Matches, though they have significantly different acceptance chances).
Safety

Wow thank you. So high match for northwestern. I’ll work on that.
