Chance me -- In-State, RD.

I am applying to UNC-CH undecided. I am an in-state student from New Hanover county, and come from a competitive high school within the area. I am female and hispanic, but I don't know if that holds any weight at UNC.

GPA: UW: 3.97, W: 4.79 (without consideration of senior year grades)
Rank: 9/398 (top 2%)
SAT: CR: 630 M: 660 W: 770, superscore: 2060, best in one sitting: 1990
SAT II: Still waiting on scores for French, Bio E, & Math II

APs:
Calc AB (5), Calc BC (4), English Lang (4), Environmental (4)
Senior Year AP's: Statistics, Literature, Pyschology, Physics C: Mechanics, Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism
IBs: Not available at my high school

EC's summary:
National Honor Society: 1 year
National Beta Club: 2 years
French Club: 3 years (1 year as secretary, 1 year as VP)
Varsity Math Team: 1 year
Environmental Club: 1 year
Prom Committee: 1 year
Other various activities: I have participated in 3 various foreign exchange programs throughout high school, and am in the midst of coordinating a foreign exchange program for my school for this coming spring (2012). I have worked with the Honors Flight organization to do fundraisers which raise money to send veterans of war to Washington DC to visit various memorials. I have also worked 2 jobs, if that holds any weight.

Recommendations: One from an english teacher (very good), and another from my math teacher (very good). I'm assuming my counselor rec was decent as well.
Essays: Strong
Other: I have also participated in the Carolina 101 and Academic Days programs (again, not sure if this means anything)

I am hoping to enter UNC-CH during the fall of 2012. Any insight on my chances of getting accepted?

It REALLY helps that you are instate! Your ECs are decent. Yet, you make up with them with your academics. Couple this with your instate status, you definitely have a great shot! Congrats and good luck!!

Moezy you have a very strong chance for admission, in my opinion, for what that’s worth, and congratulations for a SUPER GPA on the weighted and unweighted scale (mean GPA last year was 4.47 on the weight and you’re well over that with the 4.79 if I recall yours correctly…). Your scores also are superscored at UNC (and Duke for that matter) and they are fine! It all looks good. I think Carolina puts an overwhelming weight on the epic academic record and in that they probably stress mostly the school index, your choice of classes, the rigor of those classes and then your performance in those classes. Congratulations on a solid performance!
