Chance Me (IN State)

Im a junior in high-school studying piano performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Right now I have an unweighted gpa of 3.8 and I would assume my final SAT will be around 2000 (my scores are still pending).

Credentials:

-Chess club: Sophomore year I was a member. This year I am vice president. Senior year I will be president.

-Golf: Freshman year at Chapel Hill High-School before attending uncsa I played on the varsity team.

-Peer Leader: A selective residence life assistance program. Moved in to school a week early to be trained for the program. Weekly meetings, reports, etc.

-Piano: I have attended festivals in California, Switzerland, and North Carolina. Accepted to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts - Highschool. Practice 5-6 hours a day and involved in chamber music at school.

-Electronic Music/Composition: I have an avid portfolio for this.

-Service hours: Have already planned a church affiliated mission trip for this summer

Right now academics are getting really tough and I'm worried about getting a C or 2 this year in ap us history or ap English. Will my chances be greatly affected, or will this be okay? I plan on declaring myself as a music major (if I were to be accepted). I would either do a double major in classical piano and jazz piano, or classical piano and composition. This would help my acceptance? Also, when I do apply I will also be applying early acceptance, as Chapel Hill is most definitely where I would like to go for an undergraduate degree.

If there is any way you could help, that would be amazing.

haha I live in Winston too. Anyway, I think you need a slightly higher GPA and I would really try to avoid getting C’s because it’ll definitely make a difference! Since you want to be in the music program, I’m not sure exactly what the process is like. Seems like you are amazing at piano (obviously) and that will surely stick out in your application. Apply early action and hope for the best!
