After reading my essay, I kinda teared up, cause it was damn good. Maybe not grammar but the story, WOW kinda surprised myself. Good luck to all you people applying to UW! S/O PIERCE COLLEGE Throw up the X

Congratulations on completing your application! :)

Mm, I would say that you have an “OK” chance.
You have a strong GPA in both HS and your local college, but your test scores are very low.
(Competitive: 1800+ SAT/27+ ACT Numbers provided by an admissions specialist from UW)
UW looks at applications holistically, meaning that they factor in everything from GPA to extracurriculars.
Hopefully your AA and strong CC GPA will be in your favor throughout the selection process; UW loves transfers/running start students that have completed all the pre-requisites for their intended major.
As far as the essay goes, many people, including myself, will argue that content>grammar.

GOOD LUCK!
I’ll list both my HS and CC stats below. (So you can get a general idea of what UW may/may not be looking for)

High School:

Olympia HS (Olympia, WA)
C/O 2013
DENIED to UW Seattle

GPA: 3.4 (7 AP Classes)/(Downward Grade Trend)

SAT: 1800

ACT: 25

4 Years of Football/3 Years Varsity Letter

Milal Mission in Seattle Volunteer (700+ Hours)

Member of Church Leadership Board

Poor -> OK personal statement

CC:

SPSCC (Olympia, WA)
C/O 2017
ACCETPED to UW Seattle

GPA: 3.30 (Upward Trend)

Pre-Req GPA: 4.0 (Completed)

ACT: 25

50 Credits

Strong personal statement

let me tell you a secret. UW does not really care about SAT…yes, it is important, but it is the least out of the holistic view that they take. They are incredibly random. My friend with an amazing personal statement, an unweighted GPA of 3.8 and great ecs got in. I think you have more than a 50/50 chance. Best of luck to you! chance me back please?
