^ Although I can’t answer your first question (as I’m not in the Indian schooling system), I can tell you that its unwise to take an AP and an IB for the same subject. American colleges award credit for both exams and 4/5 on an AP will give you the exact same credit as a 6/7 on an HL IB (SL IB’s aren’t given credit at top colleges). Also, HL IB exams are usually harder than their AP counterparts, so I’d highly recommend taking AP’s over IB’s.

Thanks a ton 4 d info FateGoneAwry16… btw, I got selected at Stevens Institute of Technology with a 12000 USD per year scholarship… Since this was a backup college I had, I have very less knowledge about the insti… can u tell me whatever u know about Stevens? In accordance with the campus life and academics…

Tests are low as stated. What concerns me is the drop in grades Junior year. That year is the most important and you dropped a lot from your Sophomore grades. Upward trend does mean something

Idk about Stevens. Its not that good from what I’ve heard, but idk for sure.

egelloc80 - Yeah, that is one year in India where no student gives a damn about their marks… I myself was surprised when I found out that I was the school topper with such a meager score in my junior year, while I wasnt even in the top ten students after studying my ass off for my sophomore year… and the second topper scored about 5% less marks than I did… Shame… anyways, I think colleges look more at the rank than at the score, because these exams are not standardized… and I have good ranks for all the 4 years… Tests are very low… yeah… but what about my ECs… they should be pretty much at par with the good applicants? FateGoneAwry16 - Yeah its definitely not on the top… more like one of the bottom engineering colleges… only thing I know is that due to its proximity with NYC (a 5 minute subway) grads earn very high… higher than some of d Ivies… I just read it on their webpage that the avg starting salary of a Stevens grad is $62500…!! thats big

Lol, this is off topic, but I love that the best students are called “toppers” in India and that you “sit” or “give” exams instead of “taking” them. My parents use that terminology all the time (since I’m from south Asia) and it always cracks me up.

Thats just the Indian way of translating our native language Hindi to English. We say “Mai test DENE jaa raha hu” (simple translation) “I am taking the test.” (Indian translation) “I am giving the test”. They convert each and every word of Hindi into its corresponding English rather than translating the entire sentence. Mai (I) test (test) DENE (giving) jaa (to go) raha (am) hu

i don’t understand the grades you said, are they out of a 100 ? If so, 81.7% won’t cut it for the ivies…

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1450794-college-chances.html

Shipsarecool- Yup they are out of a 100, but that doesnt mean that the topper scores a 100 on each subject. It is the no of questions you attempt that counts here… With 84 and 96 per cent I was the topper of my school for the last 2 years (out of 750 students). Also, my class rank was always among the top 5% students of my class, I hardly think that marks matter in the ivies (because they aren’t standardized), in my opinion, they see your rank… I am pretty sure I have read it on Princeton’s official website… already applied Low reach for all of them dude… you may even be the best candidate at some of them… best of luck!
