Not so sure about the ucs, my gpa is pretty LOW. I just hope they take into account my rigor and scores.
SLO uses 9-11th grades so you need to recalculate your CP GPA.
UC capped weighted is 3.48??
You have competitive test scores but GPA is going to hurt your chances.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79:
UCB: 2%
UCLA: 3%
UCSD: 6%
UCD: 15%
UCSB: 14%
UCI: 13%-Reach
UCSC: 59%
UCR: 78%- Match
UCM: 92%
If CP GPA is below a 4.0, SLO will be a Reach.
What other schools are on your list and do you have any safeties?
I applied to SDSU for Computer Science, SJSU for computer engineering, and SFSU for computer science. CSULB for CS. Chico state for CS. Csuf for cs. UCSC for CS. UCSD for CS. UCD for CS.
My freshman year was pretty bad so I guess SLO is a major reach.
What are my chances at UCR though for CS? Obviously CS is an impacted major, so where do I stand? Wouldn’t they consider my rigorous courseload and subject tests? Same goes for UCI. Would they admit me as undeclared for ICS due to my specific interest in CS?
I would say that you have a shot at most schools you listed. You are less likely to be admitted to UCB and UCLA. But for the rest, I think it worth to try.
P.S. You also need to understand that UCs LOVE to look at grades…
So your capped weighted UC GPA is really 3.48? I think UCR/UCM and UCSC would be your target schools. UC’s are very GPA focused so even if you challenged yourself by taking rigorous courses, they expect you to have good grades in these courses.
CSULB/SDSU could go either way 50/50 with your GPA but your SAT score definitely helps your chances.
Chico/CSUF: Match
SFSU/SJSU: Low Match-Safeties
UCI/UCD will be Reaches with an average UC GPA of 4.0+ for all majors. Impacted/competitive majors will require higher stats than the average.
Best of luck.
I understand! Looking at the chart supplied by Gumby Mom, my gpa is low and will most likely be a 50/50 chance because 78% will include the higher gpas, although my sat scores for reasoning and subject tests/AP scores will put me in a good spot for UCR atleast right? And are my ECS okay? Or on the weaker side?
Your EC’s are fine. Your test scores put you above the 75th percentile while your GPA puts you below the 25th percentile (3.6 is the 25th percentile) for UCR. You do have a good chance. AP scores are not considered in admission decisions for the UC’s and CSU’s and subject tests are not considered by the CSU’s.
I dont know about CS since it’s verry competitive, but I can say that my sister had a 3.1 gpa and a 1450/2400 or 2100(I forgot) and got into UCSC for architecture. Basically, you can never know what to expect.
@ironweasal: UCSC does not have an Architecture major plus UCSC does not admit by major. They admit into the University and then once you meet major pre-req’s, you declare your major.
oh… well that’s what she told me. I guess she didnt apply to Architecture, but she did get in nonetheless.
@Gumbymom just thought I’d update this thread: got into UCSD and UCSC rejected from UCD and UCLA waiting on Irvine, SB, Berkeley and rvierside
Check whether your admission to UCSD and UCSC include direct admission tot he CS major.
Does your admission offer explicitly state that you are admitted to the major?
