You’re in grade 12 right now but applying next year? I guess the system is different in India, but you have a good chance, especially with your olympiads.

How do you stand in terms of Financial Aid? I believe your chances would be much better if you do not require it, but I might be wrong.

@ca2012 …
Well in India XIIth grade is the last year in high school and i don’t think i wil lbe given admission in any college without a high school diploma … well anyway i will be applying in for the regular action in January … well i dun know much so it would be better if you guide me through it …

@DannyNobel …
well i’ll be requiring financial aid that’s for sure i think … but i would be if very big help if you could make me more clearer on this issue …

I think there are limited spots for foreign students that require financial aid. However you seem to be one of the best students from India so you should be fine. In Canada, we apply to universities before we get our high school diploma, so during our final year.

well even i m applying in my final year as well … i mean i will get my diploma next year only … so what you are saying is that it’s gonna be very difficult for me to get the financial aid ?? …
and about the olympiads … do i have to provide my original certificates ??? or just mentioning them in my application will do ??

Make sure you take TOEFL to test proficiency in English. Taking the GRE (only if you are an absolutely brilliant student) can’t hurt. Applying for FA will greatly hurt your chances, as the US government doesn’t provide money for international students. Definitely apply with FA, but just understand that you will be going against brilliant students all over the world.

Well i was thinking that takin SAI I rather than TOEFL will help me, but i know u r much much experienced on this … so do taking SAT I or TOEFL have their own advantages and disadvantages ?? … and is any one of them prioritized over the other ?? … and how much more work should i do on my application ??

Sat is definitely more important that the TOEFL, but the TOEFL is necessary if you are an international student who’s first language isn’t English
