Chance me, it means a lot. I WILL CHANCE BACK.

Hey guys. I'm looking to apply ED to Cornell's CALS school's AEM program. Here're my stats.
Moved to a private boarding school in Wisconsin for my Junior year. Freshman and Sophomore classes were taken according to the British A Levels curriculum, and so I'm not going to post anything relating to them. Anyways, here goes...

GPA (Unweighted) - 3.95
My school doesn't offer any AP classes, not because we don't have a certain standard of academic rigor, but because it is too small a school. However, a lot of the classes are taught out of AP or college-level textbooks.

ACT - 32: 29,32,34,31 subscores. 10 in writing.

Not planning to take the SAT but I am taking subject tests in Bio E/M as well as Math Level 1. Hopefully 750+ on both.

• Community builder: 11, two quarters
• Community leader: 11, one quarter
• Forensics:
Letter and Pin - 11
State Finalist (5th place) – 4 Minute Speech - 11
1st Team All Conference - 11
• Basketball:
Varsity Certificate of Achievement - 11
Most Improved Player - 11
• Track:
Junior Varsity certificate of achievement – 11
• Soccer:
Certificate of Participation – 9, 10,
Certificate of Achievement - 12
• Academics:
Rector’s list: 11, four quarters
• Publications:
Hilltopics: Certificate of Achievement - 11
• Musical Production – Barnum:
Certificate of participation – Tech crew - 11
• Music (Trinity College of London examination):
Keyboard First Grade Exam: Distinction
Keyboard First Concert Certificate
• Environment Club:
Certificate of Participation – 10
• National Honor Society: 11, 12

Sadly since the boarding school is in a super remote area I haven't been able to work any jobs or work with any big time competitions.

Here's a detailed breakdown of my volunteer/ministry hours:

• Taking part in the Texas-Mexico border region mission trip and working with Proyecto Azteca.
• Ministry at Broken Bread, a program that involves students helping with carrying and distributing foods to the needy
• Angel Tree Ministry shopping and distributing Christmas gifts to children with parents in prison
• Ministry at the Villa Loretta retirement center
• Housing Rehab Ministry
• Helping out with the annual Hilltopper cross country invite
• Parking crew during Christmas Concert

I'm also co-captain of the forensics team, president of the international club, and vice-president of the business club. Adding to my business perspective, I've taken 5 semesters of general business, and 4 of both economics and accounting.

I think my essay does its job of explaining who I am and what my qualities are. My major-specific essay explains my involvement with academic economics and business, the business club, and my own venture I started while I was in 9th grade, made about two grand, and then decided to quit once I was leaving to the U.S.

Thanks a lot for your help. I'm also applying EA to Fordham, and RD to Rensselaer, Lehigh, Emory, Vassar, University of Chicago, and Bucknell.

I think you have a decent shot of getting into cornell but I would say your act is fairly low compared to the student profile at cornell, i know someone who got in who had a 2400 on the sat, maybe you should try take the sat? In addition, definitely write a good essay, with your strong ec’s you should have no worries  I’m not familiar with the other schools you are applying to but I know you have a very big chance for Uchicago!

will you please chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1239197-please-chance-me-low-gpa-competitive-sat-thanks-so-much.html#post13430640

I agree. Try to take the SAT because some people are better at one that the other and you may have a better shot with the SAT and you just don’t know it. However, with your stats, I think you have a good shot. High Match (as it is for most people)
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1238653-please-i-will-chance-back.html#post13426281

Good stats, your act is at around the 50-75th percentile for Cornell, so I think you have a good chance!

Chance me back please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1239215-chance-urm-villanova-engineering.html

Hey guys! I would really appreciate anything? The anxiousness is killing me.

Good scores, decent but slightly low ACT. Your ECs are good, but they seem bunched - not many from grades 9 or 10. You’re from an unusual area, so that helps. With your leadership positions and the college (I’m assuming?) classes, you have a good chance.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1245429-5-ivies-mit-jhu-cmu-nyu-tufts-northeastern.html

You’re probably in. I think you have a very good shot and your ACT score isn’t “out of range.” The average ACT score is a 31 at Cornell.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1244176-chance-me-ill-give-you-cookie.html
Thank you!

I’d say you are in everywhere but UChicago is a bit of a reach, but is is for everyone. But your experiences/ECs are pretty good.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1243215-chance-me-ucs-privates-will-chance-back.html

Thanks guys. Means a lot.

wait isnt it late for COrnell ED?

Cornell ED: Low reach
Fordham: Match
Rensselaer: Match
Lehigh: Match
Emory: High Match
Vassar: Match
University of Chicago: Low-Mid reach
Bucknell: Match

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1245458-big-upward-trend-strong-sats-will-chance-back.html

Since you took the most rigorous courses offered at your high school, even if they aren’t the greatest, colleges will look well upon you. Furthermore, with that solid GPA and good ACT score, and Cornell’s near 30% acceptance rate on ED, I think there is a good chance you will get in.

Good Luck!

Chance me back?

@ChemistryWarrior
It is right now, but I’ve already applied.

Hey for anyone reading this thread anymore, I got turned down. I wasn’t very annoyed but I was frustrated, especially cause I spent a lot of time on my application. I guess the moral of the story is that you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket.
