Chance Me? It would be greatly appreciated!

Hello all! This year I am going to be a rising senior.

Background Knowledge: I am a gay while male who goes to school in a public HS in Connecticut. My mother is a doctor and my father is a small business owner but use to be a lawyer (stopped when I was 3).

GPA:
Unweighted (4.0 scale): 4.06 (Got over a 100 in a class for the year in sophomore year)
Weighted (5.0 scale): 4.678
These GPA’s will be the ones colleges will be seeing with my applications.

Schooling:
My schooling has primarily been honors/AP classes. In freshman year I was in CP French II and CPA Geometry but excelled greatly in them so my teachers recommended me for honors the following year. I am in advanced math for my grade. The lowest year grade I have received was an 88 in AP Bio this year. I have always been in the High Honor Roll (85% or above grade in every class and a 90% average) for my school and am in the top 5% of my class (426 kids). I am right now aiming to be a Forensic Pathologist when I am older, so I would be majoring in Biochemistry/Toxicology/Biology/etc.

I understand a few of my choices are definitely high reaches but I would love to know what you guys think my chances are. Thanks so much for reading!

I think that you should really retake one of your standardized tests. There is an ACT in September, and there may be other testing centers for the SAT in August. Unfortunately, while your GPA is good, your SAT/ACT is below average for all of these schools except UConn. While you still may be competitive for some of these, your chances would go up if you got a higher score. Good luck! Maybe chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/2007189-what-are-my-chances-osu-um-northwestern-cwru-uchicago-cornell-nyu-tulane-gw-wusl-jhu.html#latest

For the really competitive schools like Columbia and Brown etc your ACT is really low. But you should retake it, you’ve shown that you’re a strong academic student and most likely a great test taker (from your GPA with your tough class rigor).

You should definitely retake one or both of the standardized tests. That might kill your chances at your top choice schools. If you really want to go to Northeastern, you can try EA or ED (i don’t know if the school has ED because I applied EA, so check for yourself). The other way that you can have a higher chance of getting in is by making sure that you set yourself apart from other applicants through your essays and interviews.

Sorry if I couldn’t give a better response, I’ll leave your admissions decisions for other posters to decide. Best of luck!
