Chance Me? It's kind of a weird one.

I'm a bit curious as to what you guys think of my resume. It's really heavily focused on one subject.

If you guys would like me to be more descriptive about something just let me know.

So...yeah I mean it doesn't look like a lot in text but my life was dedicated to music since I had thought for the longest time I was going to be a professional musician. Simply put things changed around sophomore/junior year, I am no longer pursuing music as my professional career, and now I'm really trying to pursue academic-related stuff (which is why I took on more AP classes junior year). I am applying to Wash U, but do you guys think I even have a chance with the so many areas lacking? I realize that it's quite a reach, but I guess I'm curious as to whether you guys think it's even worth it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :)

I think you have a chance.
Are you still active in your music or did you stop most of it after your Soph year?
I would suggest that you try to bring your SAT scores up and apply RD (after you have improved scores reported).

I stopped being in ensemble groups, but I still take and teach private lessons. I’m definitely not going to make the same mistake of disregarding the SAT again.

Your SAT scores are considerably below the 25th percentile, so your odds are quite low. WashU seems to care a lot about SAT/ACT scores.

Just out of curiosity, why did you stop being passionate about music?

sacchi, yeah i kinda blew it. i’m taking it again in november, and hopefully this time around i’m more prepared!

mspennylane, i honestly can’t explain it. it was just one of those “it’s not for me” kind of realizations over a period of time. i’m sorry i wish there was more to it.

I think you should consider writing your college essay about your experience with music and the decisions you’ve made to pursue other interests - it could tell the schools a lot about you and also give them insight into why your “resume” is somewhat one-sided.
