Chance Me: Ivies or Hopkins? I will chance you back!

Okay so the Ivy Leagues for me are super reach schools, but I was hoping for UPenn at least. I am also really interested in Hopkins. So please could you guys chance me?

(I don't have my SAT scores yet so please just evaluate me based on what I do have.)

So here is what I have so far:

Will be first generation college student. Also first generation immigrant. (Came here at 8 y.o)

My cumulative GPA so far: 4.72 (of 5)

Freshman Year (year-end grades):
English 1 Honors - A
African & Asian Studies Honors - B+
Biology Honors - B+
Geometry Honors - A
Latin 2 Honors - A

Sophomore Year (year-end grades):
Algebra 2 Honors - B
AP U.S. Government and Politics - B+

Latin 3 Honors - A
Western Civilizations Honors - A

Junior Year (1st & 2nd Quarter grade averages):
AP English Language and Composition - A
AP Physics Mechanics - A
AP U.S. History - A
IB Psychology - A
Latin 4 Honors - A
Math Analysis/Trigonometry Honors - A

I also took a summer Microbiology course at the community college nearby, and passed with an A, but I don't know how much that counts.

Volunteer at local hospital, 3 hours per week, for about a year now
Volunteer tutor for children grades 1-8, 2 hours per week, for about a year also
Mock Trial (attorney position) - 2 years now
Academic Decathlon - 2 years now
I've been doing ballroom dancing for 2 years, but I don't compete

I have taken my SATs and will be taking my AP tests this year, so I don't have those stats yet, so please try to evaluate me based on what I have. And also, I really feel like my extracurriculars are lacking. Pleaseletme know what you think and what are my chances at UPenn or Hopkins (I know it's a long shot). Thanks!

Your chances are fair.

You have the course rigor down, that’s good. It looks like you’ve shown upward trend as well with your grades, another plus. Your GPA is a bit low, but by the end of junior year it’ll probably go up. Strictly going on grades, JHU would be a high match, and UPenn would be a low reach, I think. But that could all change (in either direction) depending on your SATs! Good luck! If you really like the schools, apply ED to one next year.
It really all depends on the SAT. Your GPA is fine, so just get a 2250+ on the SAT, and a 750 on at least 2 subject tests and you’d be in line to get in. Good luck!

Being a 1st gen will help you a lot, and based on immigrant I’m guessing you’re an URM as well (unless you’re European/Asian). Like others have said, it’s not really possible to chance without an SAT, but you should be fine as long as you get in the 2100-2300 range. Your ECs are a little weak though. Your app isn’t flawless, but it’s still pretty solid. As long as your essays rock you should have a really good chance :)

Chance me back? (don’t judge my title lol, it’s a joke)
