I’m planning on applying to 9 schools:
Johns Hopkins
Stanford
University of Pennsylvania
Washington University in St. Louis
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
UC Irvine
UC Davis
I’m applying ED Johns Hopkins and would prefer the non-UC schools. Let me know if I need any more information. I’m really scared for applications haha. I have a fear of getting rejected from every single school.

You will probably get into all the UC except Berkeley and into UWSL. Your volunteer work looks good. Try to push into academic competitions if you have the time.
WashU is a low reach-test scores are good (I assume you meant that your SAT verbal score was 770). They love the demonstrated interest so if that is your first choice apply ED.
Some low matches to consider would be BU, Case Western, and possibly Emory. Vanderbilt could be a target for you as not many Asians apply to it compared to schools with similar profiles (WashU, JHU, etc).
You seem pretty well qualified for the UCs and for WashU due to academic stats. I think Stanford, JHU, and Penn will want to see more unique ECs and awards.
@SairacUchiha hm we do brain bee for neuroscience club which is an international competition. i can try to study for that hopefully the competition is in the 1st semester. thanks!
@Hamurtle Yes, in state. Thanks for the additional colleges! I will check them out.
Edit: I think I will be applying to Vanderbilt instead of UPenn bc Vanderbilt seems good for pre-med and I don’t know anything about UPenn. I just knew it was good for pre-med.
@tripledouble2000 Thanks! Yup I really hope my essays can kind of compensate for those. I really want to get into Stanford and JHU (though I know my chances are very low). I did an internship over one summer at stanford for neuroscience/psychiatry, though I think that’s the only slightly interesting thing i have.
@tripledouble2000 I listed it in my actvities section etc. I think I’ll write about it for one of my Stanford short essays (so many questions and short essays for Stanford nooo) though it wasn’t very prestigious since it’s a new program haha.
@joyce1517 Penn has also a very good pre-med program and a ton of research opportunities at its top med school an hospital that are accessible to undergrads. Also it has a good social life. Let me know if you have any more questions about Penn.
@Penn95 I feel like I have too many reaches on my list as well so I feel like I needed a better target school. Thanks for the information! I will honestly keep it in mind and will continue to look over my list of colleges thanks
@Hamurtle Hm I don’t think I’ll be applying to Rice because living in California would be easier so my mom prefers if I only applied to Johns Hopkins as my out of state school and I’m already also applying to Vanderbilt and WashU. I will check out USC though! Thank you!
