I already got an interview at Harvard. I plan to be a Cardio Vascular Surgeon and perhaps go into politics. I know my grades are low. Not even close to my potential.

JHU: Reach

To be honest, do well as an undergraduate, do well on the MCAT and in ECs in college and then you can attend JHU or Harvard Med…

Ok so I don’t really have a chance even with my extra curricular? I also got accepted into an honors selective medical program this year. Only 18 of 60 applicants get in. Instead of a regular senior year, do rotations in a local hospital and take classes like medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, college english, health economics, and law. I then go back to my home school at the end of the day to take AP Chem. Do you think I even have a shot?

I think you have a chance. But your SAT is low for Johns Hopkins and your GPA could be higher, so I also think it’s a reach.

ECs are good. I always hear stories about people who get into top colleges with amazing ECs that compensate for not-stellar academics, but don’t count on it. Apply to some safeties and matches, and just relax and wait for the results to come in.

Though I keep hearing that the major(s) you chose on the application are not considered in the decision, I am cautious of that. Thus, I believe if you are applying with anything med related your chances are worse than say one with the same stats but is a History major hopeful. I applied myself as a Poly Sci major with a similar GPA but higher test scores… I’ll keep my fingers crossed for both of us ;)

Thank you all for the responses so far. i just hope it’s not too late to retake my SATs

If you are applying for the class of 2018 than I can almost guarantee it is… but I would call admissions because I am not certain.

thanks everyone, can other people please post your response. Ill chance back
