i still am yet to look more into colleges, but public school wise i want to go to UCSB or UCI. can you suggest what I can do in between senior year to improve my chances? And what schools would suit me best.
UC’s use only 10-11th grades in their GPA so until you complete Junior year, you cannot accurately calculate your UC GPA and until you have an actual SAT score, it is impossible to determine your chances.
Here is the calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UC’s other than UCB do not accept LOR’s and UCB only invites a small percentage of applicants to submit them.
Those schools would be a reach based on the reject posting on UCI threads this year. You are Asian, Middle Class, and your GPA is not high enough. Seriously look into CC and transfer if you want a UC degree. It’ll save money and also give you the best chance. I have lots of friends that did CC then transferred into UC, they are all making six figures now and no one cares where they started. When you apply next year, apply to Cal States and lots of out of state schools within your reach to give yourself the most options.
honestly it’s all very odd as to how they choose who to accept and who to not accept. i’d give you a 50% chance at both schools just because you’re in the middle of your class in terms of ranking
