chance me? (just an average girl)

Hi! I'm a rising senior.
Schools I'm thinking About:
Penn (both ED and RD)
Brown ED
Tufts
Williams
Amherst
Carnegie Mellon
John Hopkins

Warning you right now, my ECs aren't so striking and my GPA could be better. Oh well.

School:
- My school does not rank or do GPA, but my grade average is a 90.9 (This is unweighted, and will hopefully go up?)
- My SATS are 2280 (720 CR, 800 Writing, and 760 Math) Taken twice.
(I will also probably will receive national merit from psats on some level.)
SAT IIs- US History 760 Am also taking Math II and Literature soon - hope to get >750
- APs this year: English, US History, AB Calc (I would be taking Bio AP but was unable to because of scheduling)
- Next Year: AP English, AP Euro, AP BC Calc, AP Physics, AP Spanish
- I'm also taking Computer Programming next year (first year that it is offered) and have two years of Graphic Design

Extra Curriculars:
I switched schools after 9th grade, which is why I picked up many of my ECs in 10th
1. Varsity Crew (lightweight, not recruit worthy)
Fall Crew – 10, 11, 12, Winter Crew- 11, 12, Sprint Crew – 10, 11, 12
2. JV Swimming 9, 10
3. Robotics Team– 11, 12
4. Literary Magazine – 10, 11, 12 Co-Editor Senior Year
5. Club that fundraises for a girls’ school in Africa – 11, 12
-Have designed multiple marketing materials such as brochures and holiday cards for the organization that runs the school, these were professionally used
6. Extensive graphic design portfolio, won 2 school-wide awards for graphic design
7. (Hopefully!) Published scientific article on Domestic Partner Violence
8. Summer internship with Emergency Room doctor conducting study on Partner Violence – summer before 11th grade
9. Summer internship with Data Analysis Statistician – summer before 12th grade
10. Course at local University in Propositional Logic – summer before 12th grade
(hope to get an A+!)
11. Church Organization + community service
12. Part time job at local store- Summer before 12th grade
I know my ECs are kinda lame...
I'm thinking of going the applied math/computer programming/media design route.
Penn has a Digital Media Design Major in the Engineering School and Brown has an Applied Math department and I'm interested in Brown's connection with RISD combined with it's awesome open curriculum.

Mainly I would like my chances at Penn, but also if possible it'd be great to know if I have any chance at all at Brown. (Brown is my dream school!) The reason for this is that I know Penn is slightly less selective than Brown, especially with my added legacy, so I would have a better chance there ED than at Brown, but if there's a possibility that I could get into Brown if I applied ED there, I would choose it in a second over Penn. I hope that makes sense! I know that Brown is sometimes arbitrary and always exceedingly selective in their admissions so I won't be too heartbroken if its out of my league. So if you could please give me Brown ED, Penn ED, and Penn RD, and also, while you're at it, if you could chance me at Carnegie Mellon, Amherst College, Williams College, John Hopkins or Tufts I would be eternally gratefully, but if not no worries.

Thank you so so much!! <3
Awk how I couldn't figure out how to bold stuff...

If ur dad is a professor , ur in

Sent from my SGH-T959 using CC App

Your academic stats are really similar to mine and your extracurriculars are leagues above mine. From your list, I got into Amherst and Carnegie Mellon. Rejected from Penn and Brown, WL at Williams.
From what I know about Tufts, I think you’ll get in.

Good luck!

Just to let you know, Brown does NOT have an ED advantage like Penn if that changes anything. Otherwise, Brown is probably a reach which is a combination of A- average (equivalent to a 3.7 on a 4.0 scale) and non-stellar ECs. Williams, Amherst and JHU are also probably reaches, but the rest are fine including penn.

You can definitely get into Penn because of ur dad. I think ur SAT scores are great and should help u. As for the other schools, it really is a toss up. I would say u have a 50/50 shot at all the rest of the schools. But Penn isn’t too bad of a conciliation prize
I also need help with my schools. Chance me? (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1162189-chance-me-ivys-will-chance-back.html</a>)

Your in at Penn 99%. for the other ones probably a 50% chance. Your EC’s aren’t bad, dont think they are! Your grades are a little weak tho.

Thank you all so much! I was away for a couple days and returned to five helpful chances. CC is the best! <3 And it’s great to know that I can count on Penn.

vjtodyoms - Wow, congrats on Amherst and Carnegie Mellon! That makes me feel much more hopeful because I would love to go to either of those schools. Haha, I expected CC to be more depressing…

dblazer- YES that changes a LOT. I think I’m going to give up with Brown ED for now then, since I want my ED school to definitely give me an advantage. I’ll look up the ED statistics for the other reaches and hopefully one is more of a realistic if applying ED. Thanks!

raza68 - Haha 50/50 would be sweet. This has convinced me to, if I get I don’t get in anywhere ED, apply to as many as possible to up my chances. Thanks for the help, and I’ll take a look at your thread but no promises on how accurate I’ll be.

stewta4 - Thanks  I’ve felt like my ECs are too scattered, nothing to tell a story with. Its great to hear that I might be just anxious. My grades… I know they aren’t that great. Luckily, my school sends out a report of each class and the number of people who get each grade (A+, A, A-, etc.) in each class, so I’m hoping that will help to sway admissions officers minds when they see some B+s and Bs.

Thank for the help you guys! I’m off to visit schools in Boston (Not allowing myself to visit Harvard…) and maybe get some more ideas!
