I'm planning to major in Biochemistry or Biology (pre-med). The colleges I'm currently looking at are Yale, Stanford, UPenn, Duke, JHU, Emory, Rice, Wake Forest, UT-Austin, and Texas A+M. I'd like to be chanced for these colleges. I also welcome suggestions as to some good mid-tiered colleges for me to apply to.

bump
Please? Anyone?

Yale-JHU are all reaches for anyone, and the rest should be fairly secure.

Your testing scores are pretty impressive, so you should be a good candidate for all of the schools

Very weak extra curricular activites. Everything is a match except for Stanford, Yale, and University of Pennsylvania. For biochem you may also find interesting California Institute of Technology, Reed College, and Swarthmore College.

Obviously you know what you’re doing, and are very intelligent. However, I would have to agree that your extracurricular activities appear weak. Just try reaching out and having fun! Honestly, I do a lot of extracurriculars but not once have I ever joined one simply for college. Find stuff you’re into and do it!

Also, might I recommend U of M and Madison? Great schools that you’d have no trouble getting into (although I believe Mad-town requires the ACT instead of the SAT)

Madison doesn’t require the ACT, but because it is a midwest school, the vast majority of students there use the ACT (I’m from Wisconsin, and I know a lot of kids who go there - it really isn’t all that hard to get in).

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I know my ECs are weak, but it’s a bit too late to do much about them now, I’m a rising senior. I’ll look into the colleges everyone recommended. If anyone has more suggestions, please post!

Might look at Holy Cross-great pre-med program. Holy Cross has very nice campus-1 hour from Boston.

Unfortunately, I’m not religious so I don’t think I would fit in there.

Sorry to double post, but I thought of some more questions.
Will my lack of science-related ECs hurt me since I’m most likely majoring in a science?
and What’s a good university (out of the ones I picked) to ED to (considering I’ll need financial aid).

ED is for your one dream school above all others. Since you don’t have one, you should compare various FA offers at RD time.

OP: About the science related EC’s, i think the SOS thing you mentioned is great and I’m assuming you took a lot of and did well in your science classes. That should be enough to show your passion for science, or at least i think so. Also, I’m not sure if colleges use the intended major in admissions…does anyone know?
